[KC taking a QB #1] "I say absolutely no chance of that happening." -Mel Kiper

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:8925376

Says it around 3:45

I prefer Mayock over at NFL for my mock drafts, but Kiper is smart enough and cares enough about his reputation to not make a statement like that unless he absolutely believes in it.

Still have a lot of holes to fill.

I would rather go that route honestly than a vet backup, but I would also be cool with a guy like Hasselbeck coming in for a year. The third year guy can be anybody Reid thinks has a chance to at least develop into a decent backup someday. 1 of the three is going to have to come from FA you would imagine, unless they plan on keeping Stanzi at 3.
I think the Redskin model is fine if you are taking a frail QB that is likely to get hurt. Giving RG3's size and what they did with him it was bound to happen. However, Reid does seem to have a knack for developing low round QB's and trading them for more then he paid so if he see's a guy in the 4th or later I'm cool with taking a 2nd QB.

I know everyone is on pins and needles for what I think so here goes.

Get ready to fap......

Overhaul this quarterback position from top to bottom with two NFL players to begin with.

First the Chiefs sign Alex Smith, We need an experienced QB badly. Next sign Chase Daniel, he would be great for a third string QB. I think he is a make things happen type of QB and a scrambler which Reid tends to favor.

And with the first pick take Geno Smith! Have them all compete for the starter position. My take would be start Alex with the intent to have Geno start later in the season.

What do you guys think? (be merciful)
1. Alex Smith won't come here to be a stop gap. If he was ok with being a stop gap/back up, he'd stay on his NFCC SF 49ers.

2. I don't understand the Chase Daniels infatuation around here. Strictly a Mizzou thing? The guy is a JAG, a back up JAG at that. We could replicate his role with anyone.

You can find badass LB's anywhere in the draft.

We have 3 of them already. 3/4 of our starting LB's are Pro Bowlers....and only one of them was taken in the top 15...at 15th overall to be exact.

When all but one of your starting LB's are Pro Bowlers.....imma go out on a limb and say we're ok at that position.

For as much as I doubt Chase is a viable starter in this league, I will concede he had a solid pre season last year.

Excuse me, I need to leave I just made myself ill.
When I say they won't I mean as a starter. He is too expensive as a backup. Even under the idea that reid and dorsey don't hate cassel cutting him is still going to look better to them with his salary.

Mel Kiper. Yeah. That guy is an idiot. I remember years back he stated the Chiefs would draft Andre Ware and we would win multiple Super Bowls.

Yeah. He is an idiot.

There's no way in hell he's on this team.

We could sign a guy or draft a guy or both.

Even doing both would be cheaper than keeping this limp d!ck on roster...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
