Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

the more you post, the more i realize how simple you are. YOu just talked about a saints team that didnt make the playoffs, didnt have their head coach, and was a complete abomination compared to the 2011 saints. Way to compare years.

AND YES, you can cherry pick stats when you are talking about a complete CULTURE change. Which is EXACTLY what the chiefs are going through here. Or do you honestly think with a change in the front office, and entire coaching staff, that everything is going to be the same? If that is the case, shouldnt the colts of been again the worst team in football? but they changed the entire culture, got a new qb, and went to the playoffs.

I honestly understand why I am hated by the pessimists here. I do, i get it.

You can't put all loses on the QB no matter what.

Don't get me wrong I hate that pickle washer Romo as much as the next guy but fairs fair.
It doesn't ****ing matter with a sample size THAT large you can see you better not get into a shoot out or your ****ed with Alex.

No, you're hated by the realist here. We recognize that there will be upgrades with Reid, Dorsey, and just having a last place schedule. I full expect an 8-8 season and dumbasses rejoice thinking that Alex was a great move.

Look, I'd love for the guy to come in and be a top 10 QB in the league, but I'd also love to buy the winning powerball ticket for once as well. However stats and common sense tell me that neither one of those things are going to happen. I hope to hell I'm wrong on both accounts, but they are long shots.

Seriously, can you not read.

I said no one F***ing word about sample size.

With stats its all about the context, without they are less that worthless.

SO AGAIN, how many of those time that AS lost did the D give up a game winning drive.

Well if they lost then they likely gave up game winning drives quite often since Alex couldn't lead them to a score at the end. They could have been game winning drives in the third quarter for all I care. Regardless that's a horrible number to have.

I dont believe that Alex Smith was brought here to be your qbotf. He is your qb for the next year, maybe two. He is here to mentor whoever reid decides is your qbotf, and even if that turns out to be geno, andy realizes that geno needs time on the bench to learn, and that putting him in too fast, is going to ruin him.

Maybe thats why I dont dislike the alex smith move. I can promise you, as much as I am a fan of him, if he was brought here to be your franchise qb for the next 5 years, i would be pissed too.

Doesn't the D give up a game winning drive in every loss?

Idiot

Agreed. I'm cool with the 1 year mentor then next year compete for the job move. I've seen too many dumbasses try to justify him as a viable option to be the long term solution.

In his defense Alex probably threw a few game winners to the other team.

The 34th pick in the draft plus another 3rd or 2nd round pick for a year or two? That's a horrible trade.

How many of those games did the offense not get the ball with any time to score?

Stats without context is the biggest lie there is.
When the opposing team scores at least 24 points, Alex Smith led teams score only 15.25 points a game.

How many points the 49ers score when the defense allows 24 points:
1. 0 points
2. 3 points
3. 3 points
4. 17 points
5. 10 points
6. 19 points
7. 7 points
8. 6 points
9. 3 points
10. 0 points
11. 10 points
12. 3 points
13. 10 points
14. 10 points
15. 16 points
16. 27 points
17. 14 points
18. 13 points
19. 24 points
20. 13 points
21. 19 points
22. 17 points
23. 27 points
24. 24 points
25. 20 points
26. 24 points
27. 24 points
28. 24 points
29. 22 points
30. 21 points
31. 24 points
32. 34 points

*This does include 2 or 3 games in which he did not start.

So as you can see, in those games in which the defense allows 24+ points a game, Alex Smith teams usually lose by 10+ points.
