Chiefs sign Savage, five other UDFAs. Direckshun rejoices.

I LOVE this Savage kid as an UDFA acquisition. He has a great chance to make this team in some capacity.

Chiefs Agree to Terms with Six Rookie Free Agents

Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Tuesday that the club has agreed to terms of two-year contracts with six rookie free agents. G L.J. Anderson, S Khayyam Burns, LB Weston Dacus, G Edwin Harrison, LB Lerue Rumph and RB Dantrell Savage all agreed to terms. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreements were made available.

Anderson (6-3, 292) competed in 36 games (33 starts) in three seasons at Central Florida. Anderson made 11 starts at right guard as a senior and was a key blocker for RB Kevin Smith, who led the nation with 2,567 rushing yards and 30 TDs. Anderson prepped at Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina.

Burns (5-10, 186) started 47 games at Arkansas State, totaling 331 tackles (192 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, five INTs, 24 passes defensed and four fumble recoveries. He was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection as a senior. The Little Rock Arkansas native was a prep standout at Northside High School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.

Dacus (6-1, 232) appeared in 49 games (25 starts) at Arkansas, recording 175 tackles (107 solo), 10.0 stops for loss, 5.5 sacks (-26.0 yards), three forced fumbles and one pass defensed. He played all three linebacker positions during his tenure with the Razorbacks. Dacus prepped at Searcy High School in Searcy, Arkansas.

Harrison (6-3, 314) saw action in 45 contests (29 starts) at right tackle for Colorado. He is the grandson of former Iowa G Calvin Jones, winner of the ‘55 Outland Trophy. Harrison earned SuperPrep All-Southwest honors as a senior at Wesbury High School in Houston, Texas.

Rumph (6-2, 224) saw duty in 45 games (24 starts) at North Carolina State, logging 187 tackles (120 solo), 13.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks (-9.0 yards), one pass defensed, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He was also a key member on special teams for the Wolfpack. Rumph was an all-region selection at Central Catholic High School in Tampa, Florida.

Savage (5-8, 182) appeared in 22 contests over two seasons at Oklahoma State after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He carried the ball 349 times for 2,092 yards (6.0 avg.) with 17 TDs and caught 35 passes for 307 yards (8.8 avg.) with two TDs for the Cowboys. His 11 offensive TDs led the team in 2007. Savage concluded his impressive prep career at Jordan High School in Columbus, Georgia.
