Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Wouldn't it be best to ask him about it? I have someone who will buy it from me if it does void the warranty.

Mine feeds pretty reliably with most ammo but does not like the heavy 147 grain loads and will jam on them. Crimson Trace makes a laser sight that may suit you well if you ever have to use it in a low light situation. The factory sights would suck for this IMO.
Carrying my P32 has been great. Even with a pocket holster it is totally invisible with the dress pants I have to wear.

I like it so much, I think I'm going to get a PF9 too and see if I can carry that as easily. I think the stopping power of the 9mm JHP over the .32 might be worth the tradeoff in weight.

What kind of home defense setups do people have?

People keep a round chambered? I do in my pistols, but not in the shotgun.

I also keep it next to a Fenix LD20 light in case there's no power or time.

If people do this type of setup, how did they adjust their setup for safety when kids came into their lives?

I don't keep a round chambered in the XD45, but it does have a full magazine in it. The loaded revolver is ready to go though. Have been thinking about putting my flashlight in the safe too. It's close enough that I could get to it quickly, but it may be better in the safe . Have kids, so I figure hopefully they aren't strong enough to chamber one in the XD, if they get the revolver, well it's pretty much point and shoot at that point so hopefully I don't ever leave the safe open accidentally.

I went with one of those butt stock bands too on my mossberg, and I have a 2 point swivel swing on it with another 10 spots for shells. Maybe that's overboard?

I have a wall clock with my Sig Pro 9mm and a full magazine in it. I do not keep one chambered as I have kids. The clock is high enough to keep them out and there's no way they could rake the slide to chamber one.

No its not, trust me. I was thinking of buying another one & cutting it in 1/2 & sewing the ammo bands together so I can have 5 rounds on each side of the stock & 2 rounds in the tubes.

I thought I could throw a side saddle on it too, and with an extender tube that would put me at 5 rounds in and @20 rounds on the exterior.

I have a Moss 835 with slug & turkey barrel. I need to trick it out.
I like catching teenage thieves late at night trying to brake into my work truck. Sneak out my backdoor, head to the side of my garage. & empty the SxS into the air. Teenagers scatter like cockroaches. One kid ran down the hill full bore & snagged his foot on a manhole cover. He hit the concrete so hard I didnt think he would get up. Wapppp!

Dear frazod,

That "zombie killer" dust cover pretty sweet? I'm about to order one. Does it match perfectly with the DPMS black color?

I really need to get a single rail for the handguard so I can get a sling on it. It currently doesn't have a mount for it. Anyone want to point me in the right direction? The only things I'm doing to it are a sling, scope, dust cover and possibly a better grip.

Yes, the zombie killer thing matches perfectly. Warning, it is a pain in the ass to put in - be very careful that you're somewhere that a little part (tiny little clip-spring) won't disappear into the ether if you drop it.

As for the handguard, if you can wait a couple of weeks until I get my new one, I'll send you my old one. It's a carbine length UTG quad rail which you can easily install with a handguard removal tool. As soon as I get my new free float I won't need it any more.

Ooooooooooops!

Dear D-Bags from Nevada, you may want to stay the hell out of Montana.

Victim in Montana grizzly attack was shot by friend.

Authorities say a hunter attacked by a grizzly in a Montana forest was killed not by the bear, but by a gunshot fired by a companion trying to save him.

Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe said Friday that 39-year-old Steve Stevenson of Winnemucca, Nev., died of a single gunshot wound to the chest. The cause of death was determined by the medical examiner with the Montana State Crime Lab.

The shot was fired by 20-year-old Ty Bell, also of Winnemucca, as he attempted to stop the bear's attack.

Bell had earlier shot and wounded what he thought was a black bear during a Sept. 16 hunting trip along the Montana-Idaho border.

The two men tracked the wounded grizzly into thick cover, where it apparently turned on Stevenson.
