Damn, there is a service on ebay I found that would downgrade my console to 3.55 firmware for $35. Had I known that and knew the scene would have torrents of GTA V 5 days before launch I would have totally gone that route earlier this month.
$35 for a downgrade of your console and GTA V only 5 days earlier via a likely unreliable torrent. Easier just to get it on the release day.

Video games should come out on Fridays, not Tuesdays.

It’s always exciting when your favorite band releases a new album. But, why do they always come out on Tuesday?
It’s because DVD, Bluray, CD and video game sales are tracked by SoundScan, a company that compiles sales data on these items. They’re like Nielson TV ratings, except for music, movie and video game sales. In fact, SoundScan is even owned by Nielson.
They measure the number of weekly sales starting on Tuesday through to the following Monday. Publishers release new items on Tuesday so the first week of sales data is seven days; that means sales from that week can be compared to sales data from following weeks in an accurate way.
New movies hit theaters on either Wednesday or Friday. Friday is popular for big movies because a lot of people want to see them on the weekend and it will make the three day ticket sales look more impressive, making the movie sound like a hit. Wednesday is popular for movies that don’t want to compete with the Friday blockbusters.
Here’s a list of popular media and the days they come out:
Movies: Wednesday and Friday (Theater), Tueday (DVD and Bluray).
Music: Tuesday.
Video Games: Tuesday.
Books: There is no standard, although Tuesday is fairly common since they are also tracked by Nielson. They are often on shelves before their official release date, unless there is a large advertising campaign that indicates a specific date.
Comic Books: Wednesday.

Played some San Andreas today, going around Los Santos taking in the sights so that I could compare them against GTA 5 and see if there are any that I recognize when I fire it up at around 12:30 AM on Tuesday.

It was a very sobering experience. I have no idea how I ever played that game at all. Ridiculously awkward controls, and the absolute worst gunplay targetting known to mankind.

First mission in the game that involved gunplay was on a damn timer where Sweet would die if I didn't haul ass. I ended up dying six times, losing all my damn weapons each time (forgot it did that shit), and finally passed the mission by just running over all but two of the gangbangers. Even those last two almost killed me, and I had body armor on.

Gameplay refinement has come a damn long way since that game.

If you think using guns is hard in San Andreas, you don't even wanna touch GTA3.

Yeah, those games aged like butts. Still amazing to pop back in and experience the nostalgia, though.

I took the liberty of creating a Rockstar Social Club crew to prep for GTA Online. In just over two weeks. Holy crap.

Getting one release day too. I'm waiting for the Killzone Bundle though. Does anyone know if Amazon will have it delivered to my door on release day?

Yeah the gun targeting is so rough in that game. Reminds me that when GTA Vice City came out, they did not fix the targeting system and X-Play gave it a 4 out of 5 and everyone lost their collective shit.

It is pretty amazing that R* was able to put that game together in a single year, but yeah, maybe they should have fixed that.

I am playing Red Dead Redemption, how I love the checkpoint system. It allows the missions to be longer and more difficult but not frustrating. I hated that in GTA 4 when you failed a mission, you had to start from the beginning.

Im really hoping we keep our weapons if we're killed. I don't remember if GTA 4 took them away at hospitals or not. I know you kept them in RDR.

Its so goddamn annoying to have to go out and re-supply every time a rampage goes south.

They need to play some Saints Row and take a few notes. Mainly cars parked in your garage are always there to retrieve, and keeping weapons after you get killed.
