That would be great for football but terrible for basketball, IMO.

It's gonna make Kansas' value skyrocket then. Along with Duke and UNC.

KU will be ok, they will have a seat in a super conference, if it happens. And it will be because of basketball. Its what you do well.

I agree. It's been a mess for most involved. Tuesday night was the last meeting of Syracuse and UConn. That's a pretty sad statement. But then men running these institutions are making their choices. There's no going back from what I can tell.
WOW...First time you have said something and it makes sense.

What team(s) had a chance before but don't now? Seems like aTm has improved their fortunes on the recruiting trail.

If I had my way, I'd be in a division with KSU, ISU, Nebraska, Missouri and Arkansas and the other division being the current Big 12 South but it won't happen.

"Basketball doesn't matter!" So why are you adding basketball schools? "Because we want to be the best in basketball, dammit!"
No one ever said Basketball does not matter dumbass, they only said that football matters more. That is a difference that your pea-sized brain has is unable to contemplate.

I wrote that more teams have a chance now. The BCS conferences are simply getting bigger. (Utah, TCU, Houston, SMU, UCF, Memphis, Tulane, ECU, Navy) are all now in BCS qualified conferences.

Now if a conference were to suddenly lose their BCS status that would change things but there's no sign of anything like that happening.

No doubt. You're one of the first Mizzou fans I've ever heard say that. It's of course true. I don't see the appeal in going to a league that's impossible to win. I woudln't want to go to the ACC as the 17th team because Duke-UNC and now Syracuse, Pitt and Louisville are all there. We woudln't be able to win the conference routinely, altho those hoops matchups esp in Allen would be really awesome.

I suppose our football team would immediately improve getting away from the Southern schools in the Big 12 but it doesn't seem to have much appeal losing games in basketball and having a huge conference where you play others so infrequently.

Either that or they were lusting after our Independence Bowl successes.

Big XII was on shaky ground at best when MU jumped ship. It was absolutely the right decision at the time providing long term stability and viability for the school. Even now in spite of what looks to be a bright future at the moment for the league it's still at the mercy of the whims of OU and Texas. We don't have to worry about that any longer. As it stands I'm not sure how tangibly different it is for me anyway. MU hadn't won the conference in my lifetime in the Big XII so this will be no different except the bowl tie-ins will be better. The road trips rule too. Went to Knoxville this yr and it was righteous. Planning on Oxford next fall!

Meh. Those schools are never winning jack squat w/ or w/o the BCS moniker attached to their conf so it's ostensibly the same now as it was then.

There's no sign of the Big East losing it's BCS status?

If I were in Mizzou's shoes, I'd have done the same thing without hesitation. Going forward however, there's only so long the mouth-breathers like Saul can hide behind the "SEC!" chants. And give Alabama standing ovations. Success on the field will eventually start to matter to the majority of the fanbase. At least beyond comparing themselves to what KU football did.

It is interesting that in basketball, MU fans do actually talk about their team instead of the League. Because their team is good and their league sucks.

So do conferences only matter when throwing around Sagarin rankings to talk shit? I can't quite follow how this works.
