Don't know a lot about Bellow, but I remember going to the Big 12 championship game and thinking that he looked like the best player on their team.

I checked the stats, and he had 13 points on just 6 shots plus 6 boards in just 22 minutes.

Great, another transfer that will probably frustrate the **** out of us, can't wait. Sorry I will not take Mizzou basketball seriously until haith is gone. I might check the scores but not wasting my time on this chump of a coach. I had to do it for 2 years during Snyder's tenure at the end and sadly I will have to do it again.

All accounts of Bello are that he is an extremely humble, hard-working kid. This comes down to PT and fit. Not all transfers are created equal. No hint that this kid will have the attitude problems Bell did, or the issue with giving consistent effort.

Bello went to Baylor because he was tight with Quincy Miller, who is now somewhere in the NBA. Without Quincy and without PT, he looked around.

He almost committed to Louisville and Tim Fuller when Fuller was still there, so Mizzou makes sense as a destination.

Upside is probably a longer/more athletic version of JT Tiller. This basically replaces Negus Webster Chan's scholarship in the current freshman/upcoming sophomore class, which helps maintain balance and gives them some safety net should Clarkson or Brown depart after the upcoming season.

On a (2014-15) team that will likely start Wes Clark, Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Brown, JWIII and Keanu Post, being able to bring an athletic defensive stopper (who doesn't shoot jump shots and gets point opportunities off of driving the ball, running the floor, and other 'garbage' related chances) off the bench will be a nice tool to have.

Brown and Clarkson will also have to go against an elite athlete/defensive stopper in practice every day for the next year. Also a good thing.

Final note: Without the transfers last year, Missouri likely is worse than South Carolina and Miss. State (who were epic levels of horrible) thanks to the scholarship issue and thin roster left behind by Mike Anderson. That Haith was able to piece together enough talent for his team to be considered a disappointment deserves some credit in and of itself.

Bell had attitude problems? Not doubting your info, just surprised at it. Could you expound?

His body language didn't show it, but Bell was resistant to the role he fit best - defensive stopper/off-ball player.

Here's an example: He was told at halftime of the Colorado State game that HE was the key to coming back, if he committed to disrupting on the defensive end and would stop letting a slow guy who can't do anything but shoot make him look bad.

He pouted and said something about needing more shots. Thus he didn't play.

From what I've heard - and it's third-hand, I haven't talked to any coaches about this - Bell was the type of kid that gives transfers a bad rap. Set in habits, didn't adjust to his role with more talented teammates and opponents.

Bello is the opposite, apparently.

When the Tiggers quit using Bell on the offensive side of the game they started losing games near the end of the season. But Haith had to showcase Pressey so it's understandable, I guess.

I would have never guessed that. Bell seemed like a guy with really solid character. I figured Brown and Pressey were the two biggest headcases. On one hand, I applaud Haith for not throwing him under the bus publicly. A lot of coaches would. However, the holistic lack of discipline for the team falls largely upon his shoulders.

I said last year that I don't think the players respect him. Perhaps 2012-3 was just a bad brew.

I was surprised as well. Pressey and Bell were the issues... neither was very coachable, according to my guy (This is why they tried so hard to use NWC at the point).

I will give Haith some benefit of the doubt for this season because of the situation and what he accomplished in terms of chemistry the year before (i.e. getting Kim English to accept his role and that Denmon and Pressey were the guys who created shots, not him, getting Ratliffe to play inside and abandon his poor perimeter jumper, etc).

But there definitely were warning signs. If the chemistry is again good with this year's crew, I'll mark last season down as a player-specific issue. But I'm not going in blindly expecting that.

I read the ESPN story about Dixon's commitment. Prevailing attitude is that there's little chance he's given a waiver, and I guess that Alden has pilloried him any time another AD has asked about him. According to one, "[Alden] shredded him. He absolutely shredded him."

The only "trend" ISU started was with high level boosters attacking opposing Head coaches.
