I think you're confusing things a bit.
They're celebrated in the SEC because they win championships. They wouldn't be celebrated if they lost seven straight games before getting fired.

This is true. You don't hear about arrests during the tenures of multiple NC winning coaches in the Big 12. That conference has a fail-safe in place to make sure that doesn't happen.

I mean, it's not like a coach got fired for partying at frat houses on road trips like at Iowa State...Larry Eustachy, FIRED

or tried to make it look like a murder victim was a drug dealer in order to cover up payments to that player like at Baylor...Dave Bliss, FIRED

or locked players in a shed like at Tech...Mike Leach, FIRED

or made players do pushups on burning surfaces until their hands blistered like at Kansas...Mark Mangino, FIRED

or had people go to jail for stealing millions of dollars worth of tickets like at Kansas...Crime committed against the university, not applicable in this discussion

or paid thousands of dollars and gave a car to a player like Oklahoma State...http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4317120 Player never played another game post violation

or a Quarterback selling cocaine to an FBI agent like at Oklahoma...Charles Thompson? , VIOLATION DID NOT OCCUR UNDER BIG 12

or had a drug ring busted up like TCU...ALL PLAYERS KICKED OFF TEAM

or had a Quarterback video tape teammates raping a chick like Texas...NO CHARGES FILED. CASE DISMISSED

or had secret agreements to funnel public funds to coaches without the knowledge of the President nor Board of Regents like Kansas State...Ron Prince, FIRED

or gave out fake degrees in exchange for donations and political favors like West Virginia...Gerald Lang, FORCED RESIGNATION

anything else?

I guess as long as nobody in your conference is winning anything anyway, the parts are pretty much interchangeable.

By believing re-alignment was about football games and games only, they believed football held infinite more value than basketball did among the public. It means the schools of the Big 12 would rather compete with some integrity as opposed to the SEC.

Oh wait, I spoke too soon. Marshall Henderson is suspended.

You are so full of shit it is coming out of your ears. I do not recall a single poster on here stating that basketball does not matter. Just because bball is second to football does not mean bball has no value at all.

And, by the way, just about everyone but you and Hypocritson agrees that football and tv sets was what was driving the re-alignment bus.

The split of the cash flow is irrelevant. Schools retain much more of their football revenues, whereas bball revenues are shared with the NCAA. Hence, most schools want to maximize the amount of revenue that they have complete control over.

Oh please, the Big XII has no more intergrity than any other conference, whether it be the SEC, the Pac-12 or the B1G. Trying to make the Big XII look like a bunch of choir boys just makes you look like a stupid hypocrite.

Let me know when an SEC team is ineligible to defend their title due to probation.

Choir boys no. But there does seem to be a distinction between most of the conferences and the SEC/Big 10. Hiding child molestation, paying a JC QB $180,000 to win a championship and a system that actively ignored criminal activity in order to win back to back NC's? Come on now. Things run a bit different down there and everyone knows it.

That's exactly my point: the SPLIT of the cash was what differentiated football from basketball. You seem to be agreeing with me.
