Rumors are now out there that the producers went after DiCaprio (again!) but he's out.

They also want Ryan Gosling as Luke's son and Zac Efron in an unspecified role. I put a feeler out for confirmation today but haven't heard back yet.

What this tells me is that they are going after big names as well as accomplished actors.

Efron is perfect for the new Star Wars saga.

He's a Disney kid, has a spitting clean image and girls love him. He's no more "lightweight" than Mark Hammil in 1977 and is without a doubt, a better actor than Hammil.

The Gosling rumor most surprises me. He's taken on darker roles in the past and has stated recently that he wants to take a few years off from acting. If he's cast, he'll likely appeal to the Yummy Mommies that have to take their kids to see the new Star Wars movies.
