Ray and Jr. have their own bias in this case. I don't argue with the facts at hand, but those guys personal opinions don't really weigh heavy with me in this case.

The good news is that ~30 drivers have little to race for over the next ten races, and CB has to stick a number on the side of his car for all ten of those races. We'll see how battlefield justice works from here on out...

If they did do it on purpose, have to wonder why the would not try to make the radio chatter less suspicious. Assuming they decided that they should crash should Truex need it, why not just let a simple comment be what's needed instead of all that silly stuff.

The leader of the race controls the restarts. I did not see the replay so I am not sure if the #99 clearly jumped. Then again, Edwards had new tires - so he could have won anyway.

That's not the point though. And he clearly wouldn't have won if he had received a penalty. He was nearly an entire car length ahead as they crossed the line. There was a little bumping after they hit the gas but it looked like it was extremely minor. From the replay it looked like Menard went when he should have. IDK what NASCAR's official comment was but based on the replay I don't see how any comment would be an acceptable one.

They don't care because they know the Frances' won't do anything about it for 3-4 years, if ever. And, had the 99 not been the car in the last restart, they'd have been more worried. That being said, good for the 99 Carl for being so well liked.

The bottom line is NASCAR's rules are very subjective and arbitrary, and they seem to base a lot of rules-related decisions on things that seem to affect profit. No news there!

I have gone back and looked at it a couple of times....to be honest it is not really cut and dried that Menard is really trying at all. It looks more like he wasn't really hitting the gas, it looked more like he was trying to bunch up the cars.

Carl beat him to the line for sure, but the more I look at it the more I give some credence to what NASCAR was using as an explanation.

And that certainly is the realistic view of it. Still, I always find it amazing when they actually follow through on this stuff, holding enough comfort to just throw out some bullshit answer without concern for the consequences since they don't exist.
