What would be the best sense to take over?

Imagine that you had the misfortune of being in a laboratory when one of the mutated monkeys flings some highly radioactive monkey dung at you. Instead of vomiting, losing your hair, and dying, you develop the superpower of being able to absorb the sensory perceptions of any person within 500 feet of you. For example, you can click through everyone within 500 feet of you and smell what that person smells OR see what that person sees OR feel what that person feels OR taste what that person tastes OR hear what that person hears.

Which sense would you most prefer to be able to piggyback on? And what would be the practical uses of being able to piggyback on another person's sensory perceptions?

None. I'd probably go insane if I heard what everyone within 500 feet of me was saying, hearing, smelling, or eating.

Make me invisible, now that would be cool.

Touch would be interesting, because essentially you could experience sex with anyone who is currently having sex. However, you wouldn't know with whom, which would be frustrating.

Seeing would be good, though without hearing it might be kind of weird. It'd be neat to see what really goes in the back of restaurants, and what the combination to bank safes is, and stuff like that.

Taste would be neat, because you could lose a lot of weight by tasting the chocolate that someone else is eating without absorbing the calories. You could eat nonstop.

Hearing would be very good as well, because I could listen to what my potential clients are saying before I get out of my car in the parking lot. The more I think about it, the more I think I'd like hearing over sight, which was my initial choice. You can get a lot more interesting information via hearing, even if you can't see as much nudity.

Smell doesn't seem to offer a lot of advantages in my thinking.

I'd say seeing, though hearing does have some advantages as well. But being a visual person, I'd have to go that route.

Learn to read lips and then seeing is easily the best...

Um...thanks anyway.

Maybe we should revise the smell one and make it so that you can smell anything that any dog within 500 feet smells. That'd be cool. You could get a job as a narcotics agent and nail people left and right.

Touch. Then I could hang outside Carrie Underwood's house and wait for a gentleman caller. Although sight would be good in that situation, too.

Hearing would be cool at a Chiefs game. I'd want to hear all the coaches chatter, especially that moron Gunther.

Seeing what the quarterback sees would be cool, too.

And I wouldn't mind seeing through the eyes of the President for a day or 365.

You could use your farsight sense to look through the eyes of the smart guy in class. You could cheat easily on all your tests that way, given the tests were identical.

You wouldn't say that if you watched where a dog puts his nose.

You'd know if the test was identical, too, because you could see your test and then switch to see the smart person's test.

Another cool use of sight would be to rapidly switch between everyone in the store when you walk in. You could probably find anything you're looking for by doing that, and then you wouldn't have to hunt around for it. Particularly good for unusual items like baking soda or walnuts or something.

I'm still intrigued by the hearing. There are more times that I see people and think, "What are they talking about?" than times that I hear people and wonder what they're seeing.
