Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

His offensive line was a sieve. Horrible.

The reason he has time in the pocket is that he has an uncanny ability to utilize the pocket and feel pressure and move away from it and make the pass.

Geno makes shit look a whole lot better than it was.

And he had to force it in nearly every game as his defense was, literally, one of the very worst in the entire FBS division. 107 out of 120. That's horrible.

And yet the guy still passes for a 70.1% completion, 40 TD's against 6 Ints and should have been 10-2 until his defense gave up three last minute drives that lost the game that Geno nearly miraculously won.

If his defense doesn't shit the bed in those three games, he likely wins the Heisman and is in another BCS bowl and people talk for years about his historic level season. (Like he was the season prior where he won the 2012 Orange Bowl MVP and broke all of Tom Brady's Orange Bowl passing records.)

Geno Smith is as good as it gets folks.

Geno has a cannon for an arm, but uses it judiciously relating to the depth and speed of the receiver.

He's got a fabulous awareness and timing with the receiver and the ball and the required velocity to get it to that exact point.

He's not Brett Favre splitting guys hands open with 347 mph passes that are running five yard outs.

He's not Sam Bradford or Alex Smith who are insanely accurate, but can't effectively pass at this level past 20 yards.

Can someone convince me that Geno is #1 on our list outside of CP? What if we're all getting so excited over something that will never happen? I don't trust this franchise for one second to draft him, no matter who is in charge..especially Pissoli.

That cannon wasn't present against Texas Tech in a windy stadium. Lots of balls sailing on him.

Above average arm, not a cannon.

Holy shit!

John Elway would have had balls sail on him in the first three quarters of that game. It was a ****ing typhoon.

WVU's line got absolutely abused once they started playing the big xii schedule, as well as against Maryland. I love that Maryland game in fact, as it was one where WVU couldn't run the ball and Smith took a beating but he still delivered.

Nope.

Until draft day, it's all hypothetical.

However, he's the #1 QB in this draft at this point and the Chiefs QB situation could be described as dire at best.

It's a perfect scenario of need meets player meets actual draft pick.

It hasn't happened to us very much over the past 30 years.

I'm willing to take the QB in that situation and I think Geno is a particularly good QB prospect.

3. His football IQ is incredible. We don't know Geno's for sure just yet. He's "rumored" to have a good football IQ, but he's struggled in some areas such as blitz pickups and defensive formations. RG3 we know for sure knows everything. Geno is still unknown like the rest of his class until February.
4. Has elite people skills. Can't say how important that is for a QB. Huge for leadership.
5. Has great accuracy and arm strength just like Geno (see Thanksgiving game vs Cowboys for best recent example).

We're just setting ourselves up for a huge fall here then, because we NEVER do the right thing...We are the...(wait for it)............................

Wow, that's some revisionist history on Griffin. Draft 'guru' impressions in November and December of last year about Griffin were almost exactly what we're hearing about Smith now. And you'd see people arguing here on this very board right up until April about whether he really warranted a top-10 pick. Funny now that he's had a great rookie season everybody always knew.

His issue isn't running. It's taking more than he's given, like I said before which you conveniently ignored.
You're assuming that he can run out of bounds or slide on EVERY play.

He can't.

Sooner or later he's gonna get hurt again, no matter how many precautions he takes, because he runs the ball a lot for a QB.
