I love reading Shaggy Bevo, a great Longhorns site. They are all pissed off that the PAC deal didn't happen and/or they didn't join the SEC instead of aTm.

So you really think that the Big 12 would rather dick with Longhorn broadcasts than just sell the rights back to Texas/ESPN for a king's random?

I know it spoils your carefully-crafted "these teams will go to this conference, those teams will go to that conference, etc" masterplan, similar to many other bored fans on the internet, but you are being silly.

The reason why the GOR is so serious, in a "holy crap, I guess they wont go anywhere" kind of reaction from other conferences, is the presumption that the conference wont let go of the rights. Without that, the GOR is not worth much.

You are presuming the Big 12 will act against their own best interests, for really no reason. Now, if the year was 2023, things had deteriorated so much that the GOR was never extended, and there were two years left, at that point maybe they work out a deal, but not with 13 years left. There is not a conference on the planet willing to call that bluff. You are basically saying that if some other conference says "sup Big 12, wanna fall apart", the Big 12 will respond with a "sure, why not?"

According to a curator at Mizzou, a rep from the B1G reached out to Mizzou to see if Mizzou had any interest in the B1G. The answer was no.

I love this shit.

1. The Big 12 is ****ed if Texas leaves.

2. If Texas wants to leave, they will leave (even if they have to wait a few years).

3. The rest of the Big 12 would be stupid not to take a $100 million buyout and dash off to a new conference now rather than hold onto the rights to Longhorns games. After all, if Texas leaves, there isn't going to BE a Big 12 in 2025.

1. obviously

2. They clearly don't want to leave, nor is it logical to presume they would. No one wants to take on TTech and Okie State, and with TLN, they cant make more money anywhere else.

3. You need to come up with a scenario where 6 schools want to leave and have somewhere to go. Some people are saying a 75% vote is needed which would mean 8 schools, but even if we presume a simple majority, I don't see how you even get to 6.

You can get to 6, because NCAA by-laws require at least 5 teams to maintain a conference. That said, these are just ignorant hopes and wishes by mutards that were a little dismayed the B12 didn't break apart the last time. Texas doesn't want to go west. They like having their little fiefdom. They like having most of their games within driving distance for their fans. MU fans are just so preoccupied with envy of UT they can only wish for bad things to happen to it, and if it affects KU in the process, all the better.

In 10 years, who knows? But right now, nobody is looking to leave, let alone test the GOR, its just an outright stupid argument.

I've already said I don't think it will happen. It is possible, though.
