Chiefs nominees for the 2018 Hall of Fame

http://www.profootballhof.com/108-mo...class-of-2018/

Rich Gannon
Neil Smith
Albert Lewis
Nick Lowery
Bill Cowher
Tom Flores
Marty Schottenheimer
Dick Vermeil

Two mysteries that show the rigor of the committee are the naming of Steve Smith (not the Panthers one who isn't eligible, but the Giants one with 2,400 receiving yards) and Ferrell Edmunds (80 career starts, two pro bowls, never more than 33 receptions in a season, total of 12 career touchdowns). Steve Smith was obviously stupidity due to the voters not doing their research, but what's the deal with Ferrell Edmunds? I barely vaguely remember that he was an NFL player. Did he do something noteworthy that I don't recall?

Presumably there was an administrative oversight that left Otis Taylor, Deron Cherry, and Johnny Robinson off the lists, because they have to be on there.

Which is crap but there's probably a lot of truth to it. Taylor was a stud in an era where mugging a WR was legal. It is what it is. Too bad there wasn't some influential force out there actually campaigning for these guys.

However as long as guys like Alex Karras and Jim Marshall are still waiting on the senior committee, I think its going to be a bit before either of them get any kind of love.

Indeed. It's a travesty that OT isn't in the HOF. I might give the nod to Nick, but I hate kickers even more than QBs.

The rest... nah... Cowher will go in a Steeler if he does. Marty, solid coach, but just didn't win the games that mattered.
Albert Lewis had entire seasons where he didn't give up a TD. Only reason he didn't have more INTs is because they never threw at him. If he played in a major market, or a team that made the playoffs more often during his prime, he'd be "Lewis Island" or something and 1st ballot HOFer.

Also he has 11 blocked kicks. ELEVEN!!!!one!!

Karras not being in is that bullshit gambling thing that somehow Hornung didn't get get the same treatment for.

As for Marshall, maybe running the wrong way ****ed him? I have no idea why he's not in. If Jason Taylor is a first ballot guy, its a damn shame Marshall still hasn't had his name called.

Marshall's challenge is that he was the third best defensive lineman on his own team. It's hard to prove that you're a hall of famer in that situation. (And I don't think he is. He just played a long time.)

If Tony Dungy got it, I should have a reasonable shot at some point.
