AVClub: When I visited the Breaking Bad set in March, Giancarlo Esposito [Gus] said that after he read the script for the season première, he had to set it down and walk away because he was stunned and shaken. What was your reaction?

Bryan Cranston: It was shocking. What’s great about well-written material is, if you can shock with justifiable actions, that’s the best. You can shock anybody at any time on television, but if it’s out of left field, if you’ve got a situation where it’s, like, “Oh, well, you know, he’s a crazy man, so he just goes and kills people,” that’s weak writing to me. As I was reading the season première, it was certainly shocking, and I was going, “Oh my God, oh my God. But, wait, why would…?” But then I realized, “No, that’s justifiable,” and after that, I just went, “Wow, what a way to put paddles on the heart of the audience and jump-start their season!”

My wife was catching up with BB season 3 last night.

She told me she was about to fall asleep when the final part of "One Minute" came on.

She was so wired she ended up watching another 3 episodes after that.

Finally started watching this show. Watched all is season 1 and 1st episode of season 2. Driving my wife crazy and having lots of, "I'll go to bed after just one more episode" moments.

Do yourself a favor and catch up before watching this season's premiere. Doubtless it will play right off the culminating events of season 3. Besides you don't want to miss how we got where we are.

I don't get AMC which is why I've never watched. Just started viewing TV shows via the wonder of the Internet and catching up on a lot of stuff i missed.

Angry Gus is a scary, scary man. And seeing Jesse eating after all that is maybe a corner being turned for him too (not a good one) although the party scene next week makes it look like it's maybe just a delayed reaction, instead of no reaction.
