*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Chipotle is shit compared to the other Mexican food I can get here in San Diego. Only thing is I already ate a pollo asado burrito this morning and don't want Mexican again, even though it is probably the healthiest fast food option available to me.

Debatable. I love Mexican food way more than any other food, but you can get sick of it if you eat it the way I do.

Maybe they've gotten better. I haven't been there in probably 8 years. But all the options are about 12000 calories each. They sought out to cram as many calories into a sitting as possible.

I lost about 10 pounds by not keeping food in my apartment and just eating fast food once per day. That shit fills you up.

Chipotle is garbage. Now that I live in Phoenix, I'll never eat there. Just bland and tasteless and severely over-priced.

I like Carl's Jr. for fast food burgers and fries. I like both of theirs better than almost all other fast food places.

Eat up and keep gaining strength. Get another month on the first program and I am transitioning you to percentage based lifts for the main 4, squats/bench/deads/press.

Anyways dude is like 5'10", 210 lbs of pure muscle. He told me he just quit roiding a few weeks ago though. He gave me some tips on stuff, but I also noticed he didn't seem to be using proper form on any lift, and he was using his legs to help him lift giant amounts of weight for these shoulder workouts.
Just because someone is big, doesn't mean they know what they are doing. I've seen plenty of juiced out freaks who have the worst form and rarely do any compound lifts. Mainly live on machines and cables.

Then again, I've seen many juiced out freaks who are excellent sources of knowledge and do things by the book.

I've also met some skinny guys who have plenty of knowledge, good lifting form and maybe just poor genetics for size.

I rarely judge someone's personal appearance in relation to their lifting knowledge and who's brain I would pick for training advice. You've got plenty of knowledgeable posters here and I can tell that by what they post. I could care less what they look like.

We all have different starting points and genetic ceilings. Just keep grinding to be your best. I've got no hate for those who choose to roid and lift like beasts. I myself, have just not chosen that route to aid my lifting.

I outlasted my friend today. He couldn't hang, although he was lifting more weight than me before he quit.

I've been working out with a guest pass at 24 hour fitness and for the most part it seems better. Only problem is that sometimes it gets crowded and its $10 more a month.

I think I'm gonna stick with my gym.

Damn man, what do you get, like 3 hour lunches? Leg day seriously takes me 2 hours minimum. Between warm-up cardio (skip rope), stretching and warm up sets to get to working weight, its like 45 minutes gone before the first heavy set of box squats.

The diet caved in hard yesterday.. I prob needed the calories though. Buddy is a huge Cowgirls fan and came over for the game. Local pizza shop had a 'football deal' 2x large pies, 2x dozen wings, 2x 1 litres for $20. We paid extra and had them make buffalo chicken pizza and that shit was awesome. We each finished our pies by halftime and the wings in the second half. Washed down with Diet Pepsi Max, naturally.
