5 weeks left in the season and then playoffs. The release of the video was a deliberate conspiracy to sabatoge the Chiefs season knowing this would be an automatic 6 game exemption. With the underhanded things the Patriots have been caught doing in the past, it would make a person wonder.

Like it or not... somebody released the footage with knowledge of the exempt list. The timing of a 10 month old video of a forgotten incident shouldn't be downplayed...it was deliberate.

TMZ wasn't trolling around the Cleveland police department...someone contacted them with the footage. Who ever had it...had been sitting on it.

Just to be fair, The author of this statement is now saying it was put up as a joke to mock the stupidity of Chiefs fans. I believe him because he is under the assumption you guys are nuts.

Regardless...I'm not the only person...who's first thought was "this is sabotage". Especially when TMZ used "brutalized" and made that word larger than the rest of the headline. Hunt was railroaded out of nowhere..it was like an exaggerated political attack ad.

Within only 12 hours...Chiefs no longer has their star RB.

Somebody had been waiting to play that chess piece for a while...and it worked.

It appears that the NFL had not seen the Hunt hotel video until TMZ published it on Friday. This begs the question of how a private media company could acquire a disturbing video about an athlete before that athlete’s private sports league—even when that league was aware of the video’s existence.

It isn’t as if TMZ is a governmental entity with subpoena power. And it isn’t as if TMZ is a party to a litigation that would permit pretrial discovery into the incident and its evidence. TMZ and the NFL are both private companies that are subject to the same rules of engagement. Yet, like with Ray Rice, TMZ acquired a crucial surveillance video while the NFL watched from the sideline.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that, according to sources, the NFL made “multiple attempts” to obtain the video but were denied by the hotel, the police and the persons who were near and around Hunt.

This is not surprising.

Hotels normally do not turn over surveillance videos unless required to do so by court order. Hotels, like any business, want to minimize their potential involvement in legal disputes. They will thus seek ways to evade participation in post-incident investigations. Hotels are also mindful of the risk of premises liability in the event someone is injured in an incident that occurs on the hotel’s property. Turning over the surveillance video—which is the Metropolitan Hotel’s private property—could make it more likely that someone in that ruckus claims an injury and sues the hotel.

As to law enforcement, while police departments are public entities and are thus subject to public records request, they are usually permitted under state law to reject such requests on account of an on-going police investigation. To that end, it remains possible that Hunt and others who were present could be charged with crimes. Ohio law generally provides for a six-year statute of limitations for felony charges and a two-year statute of limitations for misdemeanor charges. The fact that Hunt hasn’t been charged doesn’t guarantee he won’t be.

There's plenty of people who have access to those videos at the hotel or in the police station (or wherever they're stored). TMZ says "He's $1000 for the video" and someone gives them a copy. Or they make a copy and go to TMZ and say "here's what I have, how much can I get for it?" That's how TMZ does things, they pay people for videos that will generate a ton of clicks.

I wouldn't put much stock in some random patriots forum post.

From my understanding, TMZ would have to make a formal request with the Cleveland PD to obtain the dash cam videos. Is there such a record? That article states they dont grant access until the statute of limitations expires...

If there is no record...somebody is leaking evidence internally...and prematurely.

If I were involved in a situation where a lawsuit might occur...I wouldn't want TMZ having access to video evidence before even going to court. That is why the time limit is put in place... as a protection..

Well yeah, obviously someone leaked it. TMZ pays cash for those kinds of leaks.

Does that make the Cleveland PD liable for damages? They were the only ones in possession of the dash cam videos....at least I would think so.
