Rams, Ravens and Chargers will be tougher offenses.

And out of all of those teams that we play.....the Jaguars are really the only defense that I could see keeping up with us.
Call me a homer, but goddamn does that 2nd half of the schedule look easy. I could honestly see 7-1

Ford played well, IMO.

I pretty much agree with this. I don't think the D are world beaters by any means but they have had a tough start two road games against Two HOF QBs with prolific O's.

There are a lot of concerns though still but they won't be exposed as bad to lesser QBs.

I posted this way back in 2003 and haven't done any recent research since, so take it FWIW.

Both the 1998 Broncos and 1999 Rams has not only bottom third pass defenses, they were ranked like 29th and 31st.

The catch?

They both had top 3 run defenses and allowed like 3.5 ypc. The 2003 Chiefs allowed like FIVE.5 ypc, which is why they couldn't get off the field.

It IS possible for a bad pass defense to make it to a Super Bowl but it really isn't feasible for a defense that isn't excellent in at least one phase to make it.

Kansas City has arguably the best offense and special teams units in all of football. I would say they do.

They don’t need a really good defense to go far. Maybe not even a good defense at all given that the offense may be an all-timer.

Andy said today that they really wanted to get the defense off the field for longer stretches of time but basically couldn’t cause of how fast they were scoring.

I say **** that, keep scoring fast. Just turn up your aggression on defense and try to create more turnovers to get off the field.

If they're giving you big scoring plays......then take them. But we also need drives, like we had against the Chargers, that took around 5-6 minutes and kept our defense off the field.

The fact that some of you don’t understand that context is hilarious. This defense isn’t nearly as bad as they’ve looked against two elite offenses and HOF QB’s
The defense didn't just suddenly get bad.

They haven't won in the postseason with this defense in the entire Reid era, except a wild card game against a joke team quarterbacked by a nobody. AND they own two of the worst postseason collapses in the history of the sport.

They have sucked for 3 years, and they got worse this offseason.

The unit sucks, top to bottom. It's nothing new. It's been flatlining since Houston blew up his knee the first time. Nothing has been done to address it.

What we are seeing is the continuation of a completely consistent pattern of failure on that side of the ball. Everyone who created the turnovers the defense could once hide behind is either gone, or a shell of their former selves.

It takes an incredible amount of homerism and willful ignorance to think that this unit isn't exactly what it has been for years now.

No they haven't sucked for 3 years and then got worse.

2013 -2016 KC had a top 10 defense in points allowed. They were 15 in points last year so they took a big dive.

2013 -2015 they were top 10 in yards and points. 2015 was 2 seasons and 2 games ago.

Your claims are simply hyperbole yet you want to say anyone who disagrees is just willfully ignorant.

I don't see the Chiefs losing to either AFCW team, not saying it "couldn't" happen, but after watching each team play both weeks, OAK and DEN both look like shit, and the Chiefs should be able to take care of LAC @Arrowhead.

Chiefs right now, even w/ their defensive problems, look much better than the others, esp on offense, and Reid has owned this division for the last 3 seasons. That has to count for something. No other team in the NFL, besides maybe NE, who's played in a dogshit division for the last 20yrs, has had a better divisional record the last 3 yrs than Reid vs AFCW.

OAK has a Chucky problem
DEN has a lot of problems
LAC never puts it all together, or they're always inj.

Chiefs have defensive problems for sure, but this team's offense only going to get better. Mahomes confidence is only going to get better. These guys are going to gel even more as season progresses. AFCW is going to have a big fat ****ing problem if Mahomes continues to progress the way he is.

It sure is fun to watch. After all of these yrs on this board, the level of sadness across the board re QB situation, it seems that we've finally gotten the QB we finally deserve. Imagine if we had 1 more year of Peters and a healthy Eric Berry? Jesus....
