I haven't had a chance to see any games lately, but if Hosmer still has that long circular swing, I would think that inconsistency at the plate is always going to be an issue for him.

Swing is still loopy. Becoming a slap hitter.

I know I'm not saying anything profound here, as we've all had our 2 cents about Frenchy starting, but holy shit. Everyone on this team (sans probably Hoch) is evaluated on talent.

Why not him? In the players' minds, assuming they can see what is blatantly obvious, Ned playing favorites certainly overcomes any of the clubhouse bullshit francoeur brings.

1st inning

Top 1st

Brantley strikes out (looking)
Kipnis flies out to left
Cabrera singles to right
Swisher grounds out to pitcher

0 runs, 1 hit

Bottom 1st

Gordon walks
Escobar called out on a ball hit to second *
Butler grounds into a 6-4-3 double play, Gordon out at second

0 runs, 0 hits

* This was not the infield fly rule, but the second baseman intentionally dropped a liner to try to get a cheap double play. The umpire called out Escobar.

To me, as of late, his swing and patience has improved quite a bit. He had some really good ABs with unfortunate results last night.

And I just don't see Moose or Hosmer being 25+ HR guys, unfortunately.

It's bizarre to me how much time Royals fans spend worrying about Frenchy. Sure, he's crap to marginal but he's here for one more year and he was never labeled the future of the Royals.

Hosmer and Moustakas on the other hand were supposed to be the future of the franchise and they are captains of the failboat at this point. I can't get why so much energy is expended on a throw away player who'll be gone next year. It was one thing when Myers was available but that's no longer the case.
