Options at Safety this offseason

Yeah, I'm still pissed off at Lewis. Like everyone else, I can't wait to see his sorry ass off this team. But looking forward, who can we replace him with?

Haha Clinton-Dix is the only real option in the draft, and he'll be gone by our pick.

Here are the FA Safeties

Nate Allen PHI
Yeremiah Bell ARI
Antoine Bethea IND
Jarius Byrd BUF
Ryan Clark PIT
Chris Crocker CIN
TJ Ward CLE
Michael Huff DEN
Malcolm Jenkins NO
Taylor Mays CIN
Brandon Merriweather WAS
Quinten Mikell CAR
Donte Whitner SF
Usama Young OAK

Anyone think we can snag one of those guys? Will we have the money?

This. It'll be a great day when we get Berry out of that ****ing LB role.

I'm not on that wagon.

If we had played him at FS earlier in his career I would have been ok with it. At this point is feels like messing with a good thing.

Moving him to FS allows him to utilize all of his skills.

Exactly. That versatility gives us lots of options in the secondary, we don't need to look for just a FS or SS, we can just look for a top notch safety and shift personnel as needed.

IMO if TJ Ward would take something around 3.5-4.5 million per year, we would be fools not to try and sign him.

Berry at free and TJ on the strong side...shivers.

This defense would go to the next level with those guys back there.

Exactly. His speed in the open field is mostly negated using him the way he is currently being used and he is also at a higher risk of injury. Overall, I'm ok with the way he is being used because he is effecting games in different ways...I just think he would have more impact on the game by playing center field and using his hitting ability and speed/ball skills to our advantage by taking away some of these deep passes.

I'm somewhat disappointed thatSutton hasn't made any adjustments by putting Berry back there more often and putting Abdullah in Berrys role.

TJ Ward is pretty good I think, looks like some nice options out there. Hopefully we get one.

Im starting to wonder if they even realize how bad he is. They're not letting Demps or Abdullah start still, so they must not.

Suttons ego is getting in his way. Reid was the one who decided to bench Cooper for Robinson. Let's see if he can make another smart move.

Yeah, this.

Being a thumper is about the only thing Hussein is good at, freeing up Berry to use all of his trick bag would be a welcome sight.

I wanted us to draft Taylor Mays so badly. Man was I off.

I'd still love him in the Eric Berry role and Berry in the Kendrick Lewis role.
