Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

Kobe's always played a ton of minutes, even when he shouldn't. Most of that is on Kobe.

If you want to fault D'Antoni I guess you could fault him for not throttling back on Kobe, but given that he was coaching for his job he was obviously not the guy to trust to make a sound decision, because his own ass is above the best interests of the franchise.

Not the last 2 years he hasnt, he's averaged about 32-34 min a game. Phil mad his ass sit the first 6 min of the 2nd and the first 6 min of the 4th just about every game. Sometimes the last 2-3 min of the first and 3rd.

I remember Sugar Ray coming back against Macho Camacho and embarrassing himself.

I remember the Wizards playing a featured game on ESPN on Friday night the first year Jordan was back. It was a close game that they pulled out at the last second, but Jordan missed a FT that would have iced the game and I was just ****ing stunned. It was shortly after he dropped 40 against the Hornets, thinking that maybe he was somewhat impervious to time. To see him miss that in the clutch sealed his mortality for me.

It was such a small event, but it really stuck with me.
Unlike you with Pujols, I have still followed Halladay as he didn't abandon Toronto's organization over a bit of money (in fact, the Jays kind of pushed him out themselves through trade and the desire to rebuild). Him being a Phillie doesn't make his decline any less crushing to me. Watching him on Monday, he's not the same guy anymore. The arm slot is completely different (whether through injury or by choice) and he looked old and broken with a straight FB. He obviously still has a chance to make something of himself in MLB, but it's hard to see a reality in which he's that same dominant pitcher he was for 12 years again.

It's always tough to take when dominating athletes you've watched for so long fade, but it always happens. Well...unless they choose to retire somewhat near their prime like Bjorn Borg or something.

If D'Antoni had cut Kobe's minutes LA fans would have also ripped him for not playing enough and they may not have had a chance to barely make the playoffs.

It looks like he did that in 10-11, but not the year before. Wasn't his knee killing him that year (necessitating the trip to Germany)?

no they wouldnt have. Even when winning the fans were still saying its to many minutes. Where they in awe at what kobe was doing? sure, i think everyone was, but the fans were still saying its to many.

MOst Lakers fans would prefer if the Lakers didnt make the play offs this year just so they can fire D'Antoni. No one likes him.

I'm going through that with Mickelson right now. I've rooted for him so long and so hard that there aren't any other golfers that I really even care for. Although I'll always love playing the game, it will be very difficult to envision me watching it nearly as much.

Kobe averaged the same amount of minutes last year: 38.5. In the prior year 33.9 and the year before that 38.8.

yeah, its the 2nd half of the year is when he started playing 40 plus minutes. The first half he did ok.

eh, well, it may be time for the Lakers to use their we are the Lakers status n get some players next year. Like whats being said, may even have to amnesty KObe or something. I dunno, but they cant go into next season paying 30 million and no one playing. Then again, they could pull a San Antonio Spurs play for that first pick in the draft for 2014 lol
