I agree with all of this except that I'm not amazed he's walking free. He has cash and an excellent attorney, I'm sure. If (huge if) he gets indicted it won't go to trial and he won't do time in a plea deal.

Whether or not Ward's family files a wrongful death suit remains to be seen. I would not be surprised to see a civil suit in this case. Of course that won't go to trial either.
