Geno Smith Escorted off airplane by police for verbal altercation

Apparently he was upset with their seating policy. Can't you see Brady, Manning or Rodgers doing this?

Geno Smith Allegedly Escorted Off Plane By LAX Cops [UPDATE]
Geno Smith Allegedly Escorted Off Plane By LAX Cops [UPDATE]
SEXPAND
Jets quarterback Geno Smith was apparently escorted off a Virgin America flight at LAX today by police after what a witness called a "verbal altercation."

The photo you see above was sent to us by a reader who witnessed the incident and says the shot came "moments before" Smith was escorted out of the airport by cops. Our tipster wasn't the only person who saw it:

@JimmyTraina I don't have video, but I'm at LAX and just saw a Geno Smith fiasco yelling at Virgin America workers. Escorted by cops LOL

— Mark Rue (@markyOso) January 17, 2014
We're working on getting more details, but it looks like Geno's weekend isn't off to a great start.

Update (7:11 p.m.): Our tipster fills in some details:

We were waiting for our flight at LAX to Vegas and were put on standby on Virgin American just like Geno. We were told to get seat assignment at 2:40. Apparently Geno was not on board with that. My friend walked over to discuss seat assignment and Geno was saying to airline ticket agents, "**** that, this is bullshit." "Why the **** do I have to wait until 2:40." He would not let it go. He continued to curse and be loud for about 5 minutes. Police were called. They talked for a few minutes and then 3 officers escorted him out of the terminal.

Give it up. You were wrong. Let Geno Smith actually achieve something and I don't give a **** what he does. Let him act like a total douchebag loser before he wins anything, and I'll show you a guy who'll never win shit.

I love it how the same people that QUICKLY want to paint Geno as a bust are the same guys that give excuse after excuse for Eric Fisher.

I'll say again, Geno Smith was better at playing quarterback than Eric Fisher was at playing right tackle.

Guys are like "but the technique and everything is backwards on the other side so it's understandable that Fisher sucks right now"..........breathes later ...."Genos a bust because he cursed out some airport personnel"

Go figure.

I do agree he has a sense of entitlement about him that I don't like.

He's like the guy that needed his ass kicked, but nobody stepped up to do it because he was always the quarterback. He needs a big slice of humble pie.

Who knows what would have happened to Aaron Rodgers career if he had to start right away. He was a Tedford guy. I will alway think that Genos best chance would have been to sit for a year or two in a good system with good coaching.
And there are a bunch of players that would have been better picks than both of them.

Geno Smith was shitty this year. Posters like you thought he was worth the first pick in the draft, and a must-take player. Here's a story showing him to be enoug of a problem to get tossed off a plane, and you try breaking out the comparisions to Fisher.

Take your medicine like a good little boy.

I wanted to draft him and sit him for a MINIMUM of one year behind Alex Smith, who I was fine with adding to the roster...just didn't like that we gave up so much to get him.

There is a big difference in thinking a player would be worth a certain price IF DEVELOPED THE RIGHT WAY and having to play right away on one of (if not the worst) talented teams in the entire NFL. The Jets were a ****ing circus in 2012.

The kid had his WTF moments AS ROOKIES ALMOST ALWAYS DO...but he also had some straight up outstanding moments, too.

He had the NFLs second highest total QBR in the final 4 games of the year (Manning was first) and two of those were against Carolina and Cleveland.

Who knows how his career plays out if he is in KC as the backup with guys like Alex and Reid around him every day.

All I'm saying is that the people here who were pimping him and bashing everyone who didn't toe the line need to accept a bit of blowback without crying instead of trying to toss out red herrings like the team drafting Fisher. This probably isn't even a big deal. He apparently got into it with a steward(ess) and the end result was him being off the plane. It's stupid, but it's not the end of the world.

And he sucked ass as a rookie.

If there were genuine character concerns that led to him dropping, then this report supports those findings.

Kids are allowed to be kids though. He'll grow up sooner or later. Hopefully before his NFL career is over.

Well said. At one point in the season, he had set a rookie come from behind win record.

He was good enough to earn player of the week honors while beating your Patriots.
