Do you root for your race?

with all things being equal and/or unknown, do you secretly or not so secretly root for you own race?

example:

clicking through the channels and you come across a sporting event. You don't know anything about the participants other than what they look like.

nothing invested, no allegiance to school, state or country

one is your race, the other(s) involved is of another race(s)

Do you even notice? If you notice is your first inclination to root for the person of your own race?

Sometimes, Wayne Cherbet is a good example. I wouldn't give the guy a second thought if he wasn't a successful short, white guy in both a sport and position dominated by tall black guys.

On the other side of the spectrum, Donald Brashear is one of my favorite Philadelphia Flyers. I guess I root for the underdog/oddball.

It's kinda like Danny DeVito making the NBA.

precisely ...

if you don't like or dislike someone because of other ties (ie chiefs, faiders,KU,MU etc)

do you tend to root for people more like yourself .... you own race etc?

A group of Flips doing any organized sport together would be a freakshow that anyone would root for.

I've never really considered race when watching sports, except to make fun of the basketball team with the most white guys (I'm white BTW).

but I don't root for them just cause they're white.

I don't know if this qualifies as a sport, but I root for it nonetheless.

Dancers practice at a pole dancing school in Singapore March 9, 2006. The dance school is the first in Singapore to introduce pole dancing which is a new form of exercise adopted by women from all over the world. The routine requires strength, flexibility and athleticism in order to execute the moves well and with ease.

there are many levels to the sport/race chain, depending on sport.

for instance, more athletically challenging sports go something like this:

Black
Hispanic
White/Europian
Asian
Indian (feather)
Indian (dot)
