Well, I ain't met you yet, so I'll have to withhold judgement. I can't say you're one for wanting to see someone hit the wall. I used to love whoever put the #3 into the wall and in reality he was a really great guy (at least every time I ever talked to him)
Yup. I came to grips with my assholeness in a jungle some years back. Once I got over it I found coming to grips with it lifted a burden from my cold and heartless soul...

I agree... But to be fair they wanted to make sure the races during football season we're relevant every year, and this was one solution that did that. So I can connect the dots - but like you, I just don't agree with them.

That being said, I still think they need to fix the middle 75% of laps of almost every race, especially at super speedways by making each lap VERY relevant for points. If they'd do THAT I think they'd find that the race's excitement would keep them profitable during football season, not the fact that no one driver has an near lock on the championship.

Make a lap's leader count (every lap), make wins count a little more, and make cars start setup EXACTLY like they were when they shutdown the engine after qualifying (park them and lock them). THAT'S what this NASCAR fan of more than 30 years would like to see...

Fame tends to do that to people after a while... Even Guy Fieri from the food Network's D-3 show was a total asslip to the Royals folks when he was here in town. Not to mention Kevin James (King of Queens) - yeah that FATTY - is a total dickmunch!

So I tend to think they're prolly all nice in their own special way, and if they aren't it's prolly because they've heard I'm a total asshole and it's just Karma...

NASCAR, we have a problem

It has been said that there has been cheating going on in NASCAR since they first started. Yes, advantages were sought, but usually it was to make the car go faster in order to win, not to throw the race in order to fix an outcome.

Not necessarily...that was the old way and with the scoring (3pts per position), it became a joke toward the end of the season...the last 10-15 races really didnt mean anything. Kenseth's first championship came with zero wins. Obviously, that's ludicrous...No one should win a racing championship with zero wins.

On top of that Nascar is/was competing with the NFL for viewers toward the end of the season. The only way to keep people watching was to create a playoff system.

I still think that Nascar doesnt reward enough points for wins, top 5 or even top 10. The only person in the chase with zero wins prior to Richmond was Bowyer. That's a model of consistency, but if you cant win a race, what point do you have being in a playoff.

Same with Gordon...maybe the playoff should be a playoff of the winners of the first 26 races, and be done with it or weight the points to some degree so that someone in 26th place doesnt have a chance to squeak into the chase.

Using your formula, Gordon would have at least 6 championships by now, but the last few races wouldnt be compelling enough to draw enough viewers over NFL (or even MLB) in the races from mid Sept-Nov. They're not going to cut their season down so something had to give.

I like the chase but dont like the chase...I realize that it is what it is, something to make the final 10 races relevant. Otherwise, the Nascar season would be effectively over by Labor day.

Butthurt much???

That being said, I guess you think it's not horseshit and irrelevant that he was in the chase prior to the order being given, OVER THE AIRWAVES, to cause a caution so the standings would be altered? And that other "OVER THE AIRWAVES" manipulations were in progress in those same closing laps?

I'm a Gordon fan, I get that you aren't, but your desire to keep one person out (without articulating a logical argument as to why) seems pretty ****ing stupid. I'd say your 5-year-old rendition of fairness seems to show that the Hicks running NASCAR are a LOT smarter than at least some of the fans.

With that, as you wipe the tears from your angered eyes, rest easy knowing that JG probably won't stray anywhere near being the 2013 NASCAR champ...

No, my father in law told me 2 weeks before the chase started that Nascar would fix the race so that Gordon would get in to the chase through cautions and what not. I was shocked when Gordon missed it by 1 point. I thought it was funny that he was wrong about that because he has been a long time Nascar fan. Turns out they changed the rules to allow a 13th person in to the Chase. I just was on the phone with him and he told me "I told you it's fixed". The hendrick racing team has so much influence over Nascar to the point of getting rules changed to get their cars put in to the race. That type of shit is not respectable
