Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Not as good as the 1st one but how could it be?

Basically the exact same movie. I imagine the 3rd one will be too.
i thought those 3 cop guys had some pretty cheesy acting, but the movie overall was really good... i was glad they made another one.

I just watched We Jam Econo: The Story of the Minutemen. It was a pretty good documentary about a band that's easy to misunderstand. Some of the old rockers interviewed in the movie show some signs of mental wear and tear, IMO. I was pretty impressed with the Minutemen's drummer and I gained more of an appreciation for their funky and very brief brand of punk rock.

Mike Watt is impressive. I need to watch this doc.

I was irritated with the chick. I didn't need a femi version of the femi male in the last movie... Until I got to the end. Then I just rolled up eyes.

Love how she says "****" tho...
I'm sticking that accent in my arsenal.

I'd forgotten that Clooney was in Goats as well. I guess it'll be a regular Clooney film festival.

I recommend watching Brothers with Tobey McGuire, Jake Gyllenhall and natalie Portman. It was a pretty fucked up, intense drama. My only complaint is that Natalie Portman is way too hot for that kind of role. But it was really good.

I've got that at the top of my queue, too.

I knew 2012 was gonna be bad. But the blu ray was horrible.

Letterbox and what looked like 720.

This. It was a damn good movie. The previews kind of led you on a little bit though.

Shutter Island: Not good. The so called "twist" at the end can seen so far ahead it makes the rest of the hour and half just an exercise of waiting through pretentious BS. Definitely wait till cable.

Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus: If you're a fan of Gilliam you'll probably like it, if you're not, you'll probably hate it. I like Gilliam but unfortunately it fell somewhere in between for me. Maybe because of Heath's death it couldn't quite reach its ultimate goal. Nonetheless I recommend checking it out, at least for all the performances.

Leaves of Grass: Very strange, weird, little movie. I got a kick out of it but it's another one that won't be everybody's cup of tea. Had kind of a Coen Bros., dark comedy feel to it.
