Which WWII fighter would you fly?

I saw an interesting program today on people who refurbish old WWII planes. Got me to thinking, if you had the money which one would you try to find? A description of fighters can be found at acepilots

Spitfire, no question. If we're talking WWI I'd go with the Fokker DR. I or IV

Fw-190. It would barely beat the Spitfire on my list.

The P-47 is one of the most underrated planes in history.

If you ever get the chance to visit the Palm Springs airport, the have the largest collection of still flying WWII aricraft in the country. They even have a B17 and a B25 that still fly. It is ran by all volunteers who are WWII vets. I spent several hours there just talking to these guys. One of the B17 pilots was on the Berlin bombing raid. Over 1000 planes on that raid. I highly recommend it for the history these guys can pass on.

I'm more about the huge explosion than I am about staying alive. I really lack that instinctual aspect to stay alive. As long as I'm known for causing the greatest explosion to ever grace mankind...I'm as good as gravy!

Besides, didn't they get some sort of escort?
