Dog advice
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on a dog issue me and the wife are having. I have a Jack Russel Terrier and he has just about lost his home. I have had him since he was a puppy but either he changes his behavior very quickly or I have to get rid of him.

The last 2 to 3 years he has started lifting his leg on things in the house (it has just gotten worse lately). This isn't because he isn't getting the opportunity to go outside, this is a behavior issue. He knows he isn't supposed to be doing it and he never does it in front of us. Today was the first time I had come close to catching him, I turned around for a few seconds and when I turned back around he had pissed on our couch. Needless to say he didn't have a good morning. This tends to happen a lot more in the winter months, probably because he can't get outside as much to play.

We got him from a rescue and the lady who runs it had us try a belly band(I was not real keen on the idea and still am not), she said she uses them on all her rescued Jack Russels because they tend to have this issue a lot. I wish they would have told me that in the first place. It works for the most part but he continually pees in it when you have it on him so it just creates more issues. I think his little wee wee gets hot or something.

I have had him for 7 years and really would hate to get rid of him but if I don't figure something out really fast the wife has told me it is either him or me. Anyone got any advice other then aids trees and antifreeze?

A friend of mine had the same issue with his JR. It's one reason I never got one. If you can't commit two or three hours to having him out running, then he needs a new home

Can't imagine giving up a pet I've had for such a long time. ****in asshole.

Maybe the little dude will find a more loving home, hopefully anyway.

Just don't get another one, you'd just end giving that one up to.

Mine is hell bent on catching laser lights. It is the one thing I can run him pretty ragged with. We bought it for our cat and discovered it was one of the best investments ever for him. He goes bonkers for it. He knows where we keep the damn thing and if you walk in the general direction he starts making this horrible howling sound like you are killing him. It is very funny. I keep saying I am going to film it and throw it on AFV.

Does he like to dig?..most small critter dogs do. If so find a creek bank or dedicate a small area in the yard and encourage him to dig in that ONE spot...you can shovel it back in less than 5 minutes after a 15 minute dig. Nothing wears a dog out more than 15 minutes of intensive digging. I tried walking, running and retrieving with my two dogs and nothing mellows them out more than 15 minutes of intense digging.It's quick and you can sit on your ass while they do it....need a bucket of water to clean their paws when they are done.

Yeah, mine can dig a hole pretty damn quick. I have probably 10 holes in my back yard I have to fill on a regular basis. I regret the privacy fence now because I think that actually encouraged him because he just wants to see what is on the other side. It might have worked better with a 6' chain link that he could see through.
