I did, too, but man, I just found it unwatchable. I wanted to like it and I saw every episode but it was painful, especially the first two plus seasons.

The ship was just so archaic in the beginning and it was almost humorous to see them outfit it with "real" shields and weaponry. I didn't care much for the casting, either. Bakula is always good but the rest of the cast was unforgettable.

It was a wasted opportunity, IMO.

Enterprise was great by the time it ended. Pretty awful first season. They had some really high concept stuff (for TV) going by the end.

I still contend that theme song was one of the biggest musical missteps ever. Even bigger than Firefly's.

I ****ing forgot Quantum Leap. THAT is a show which deserves a reboot.

And I vote nay on a ST series. Everything that needed to be explored was done in TNG, DS9 and even VOY.

Firefly.. Of at least the Serenity is done too. Maybe recreate the same dynamic with a different crew but I think the show didn't have more than 50 eps of good material in its premise.

Space: AaB... I grew up watching it and all but it's a hard premise to buy into I'm retrospect. You mean it's accepts me to use HIGHLY TRAINED ENDO/EXOSPHERIC PILOTS AS INFANTRY? Commodore Ross was awesome as was Col. McQueen.. And even the other Tank pilot but.. Yeah..

Yeah, if Twilight Zone could be as good as the original, it would top the list. But that's a tough nut to crack.

GRR Martin couldn't pull it off.

Maybe keep Jane as a crotchety old bastard on the ship for some comic relief / action, but replace the rest of the crew.
I'd sure watch if they do a Firefly reboot. I hope they come up with all new theme music, as I'm convinced that a bunch of scifi geeks stopped watching upon hearing the opening song.

You and keg both mention the theme song being a mistake. Why? I'm not a fan of that genre of music, but it really did seem to fit the old west / pioneer theme going on in the show. I thought the the lyrics fit rather well too? What am I missing?

Well for starters, it didn't fit in line with the tradition of Star Trek, which had to that period featured a grand, adventurous orchestral theme song that hinted at greatness (which was further ruined by Michael Giacchino, but I digress)

A Michael Bolton sound-a-like for an adventurous, high concept Sci-Fi program might be the corniest thing ever in the history of the genre.

Some post Serenity material?

I agree. The final season of the show was its best but by that time, they'd lost their audience.

My contention from the beginning was that Brandon Braga and Rick Berman were the wrong people to run the show.

I actually meant Firefly. Star Trek, yeah, it seemed weird to me when I first heard it. The intro seemed like a Discovery program or something, not a space epic.

Firefly isn't really a grand epic like Star Trek, and the theme song was definitely not a Michael Bolton type song. I've never heard of Sonny Rhodes, probably since I don't listen to country/western, but it didn't seem out of place to me.

Definitely going to have to grab these. Don't read comics anymore, but will make an exception!
