Nice good old fashioned MU choke job. It was only a matter of when, not if.
Sort of knew they'd be out tonight.

That’s why you can’t start talking about Atlanta. It’s Mizzou. Mizzou will always happen in that situation.

A few thoughts from my seat at the game:

I didn’t understand the Mauk hype after the Florida game, and I don’t think anyone does now. If you go back and watch last week’s game you’ll see a player that only hit on half his passes and should have thrown three or four interceptions. Tonight’s performance was every bit as bad as any of Berkstresser’s stinkbombs last year, just luckier. He should have thrown four or five picks in this game. He was terrible in the spring game and made me yearn for Kirk Farmer tonight. The team had absolutely no confidence in him, and I can’t blame them. Every deep ball he threw looked like a punt. South Carolina defenders dropped at least three picks, and he made some terrible decisions that luckily didn’t result in more. It might be the worst game I’ve ever seen a Pinkel QB play. Berkstresser’s 9/30 last year was a better game than that. When the team won’t let you throw when you’re on the 25 and need a touchdown to win you ****ing suck the biggest of donkey balls. Mauk was flat footed on all his throws, he couldn’t throw any pass outside the hashes with any touch, and he constantly made decisions that reminded me of Brett Favre with the talent of Matt Cassel.

Clowney just flat raped Britt all night. It’s not terribly surprising, but SC’s defensive front just wore out the Missouri blockers. For all the crowing about guys like Britt and Copeland, they are just not good enough. Copeland committed two idiotic penalties and constantly got his ass whipped at the POA. Great mouth, average player.

Dave Steckel is still the most clueless mother****er I’ve ever seen. Tonight exposed him as bad as the Syracuse game did. The defense was continually gashed by screens once Shaw came in and he was completely unable to adjust. Unless the front four raises absolute hell, which it didn’t for most of the game, that back seven will get torn to pieces because it’s easily the worst back seven in the conference. The DL was handled for most of the night and it exposed the back seven.
To let a RB slip out on a flare pattern on 4th and Goal from the 15 is just unimaginably stupid. Teams shouldn’t convert that more than five percent of the time and they did it easily.

Thompson was so bad it really overshadowed the ineptitude of the defense. SC receivers consistently got past the Missouri corners, the safeties took horrible angles, and have absolutely no ball skills. Matt White and Randy Ponder are the SEC’s version of Jarrad Page and Burntee.

I felt the game was really in trouble when we got four turnovers in the first half (yes, the 4th down stop counts), a 96 yard TD on a Matt White-level-angle from SC’s safety, and yet could only muster 14 points. There wasn’t a single thing more that could have gone right for Missouri outside of the pass off of Washington’s pad in the first half and they could only muster 14. A decent team would have been up on SC by 24-28 points at half.

The crowd was completely out of it by late in the game. Before overtime there was an M-I-Z chant in the stands. You could hear the individual people saying Z-O-U (maybe a few hundred) because they were so dispirited.

Some drunk old **** in front of me called me a Debbie Downer when I blurted out that they were going to lose when it was 17-7. I told him I have two decades of watching this shit under my belt. It’s Mizzou. It never changes and it never will.

They’re going to get their asses handed to them at Ole Miss and Jonathan of Foosball will likely approach 600 yards of total offense on these ****ing clowns.

I’m somewhat pissed at Pinkel for that game and his clock management, but they were a dead team walking as soon as Shaw came in. His biggest flaw was exposed by his hires: Grinch and Steckel.
And obviously Baggett is a ****ing worthless piece of shit that should have his scholarship stripped, but you never, ever trust a kicker.

Kinda off topic, Clowney has been a disappointment for myself, personally. Dude is playing half-assed most of the downs. He's just waiting for April.

Clowney ran down Mauk so easily so many times. If he was half-assing it, it didn''t really matter, because he was in the MU backfield all night.

I'm just talking overall. Most of the season he hasn't really given 100%.

South Carolina won't do shit anyway, they are just like Mizzou, can't win big games. Like I've said many times, college isn't like the pros, you can't suck for years and become a champion with the right players. You are what you are in college.

I can think of a handful of plays but I wouldn't say "all night". For the most part I thought he looked lazy, but when he did put full effort he typically made a play or at least an impact on the play.

Welp. That sucked the shit.

Mauk really, REALLY needs to learn to check down. Every pass doesn't need to be an 80 yard touchdown, for Christ's sake.

He doesn't wanna get hurt. Which could happen on any play and more likely when you're milking it. Make no mistake though, he's gonna make an NFL franchise EXTREMELY happy next year.

I've never seen a QB throw so many lollipops down the field. If Missouri didn't have WRs bigger than any other football team anywhere (NFL included), that would have been a nightmare of interceptions. He threw a shitload of ducks, too.

Disturbing that many posters in here are equating the Chiefs with mu football.

I noticed that on the tube. A ton of wobbly passes.

And it was noticeable how Mauk lost confidence as the game progressed. Strange, considering his team led basically 3/4ths of the game.

And hey, DGB - feel free to try catching a pass with your hands and not your body from time to time for ****'s sake.

I'm just glad DGB didn't die when going up for some of those floaters. He fought for one at the 20 yard line that was 12 yards underthrown. He made a great adjustment, outleaped two defenders who were essentially going to fair catch it, but lost it on the way down.

And I'm not surprised Mauk lost confidence. The staff lost confidence in him, and they had a right to. He was making awful decisions with the ball all night. I wouldn't have trusted him to drive them 70 yards in 42 seconds; he couldn't even throw a screen pass well.

I know "He's a RS Freshman" and all, but he was so, so ****ing bad tonight that it really defies description. Gabbert and Franklin were light years ahead of that as true sophomores.

I'm probably being a tad harsh on DGB, but he dropped three, maybe four catchable balls tonight. A couple would have been tough, but hey, he WAS the top overall recruit in the nation (in case you missed the dozen or so times Matt Millen mentioned it).

The question with Mauk is what happens from here? He's gotta find some confidence double quick so teams don't just start playing us eight in the box and shut us down.
