Bucs not planning to extend Josh Freeman

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs won’t be extending Freeman’s contract, which expires after the 2013 season. And as Stroud explains it, the decision not to sign Freeman to a new deal could be part of a plan by coach Greg Schiano, who inherited Freeman, to get his own quarterback. And Freeman may change Schiano’s mind only by playing so well this season that Freeman leaves the Bucs with no other option than to use the franchise tag or sign him to a long-term deal.

One possibility would be to apply the non-exclusive tag and to see if anyone is willing to sign Freeman to an offer sheet and give up a pair of first-round picks. That would enable the Bucs to pull a reverse Keyshawn, giving up a player and getting two first-round picks 14 years after they gave up two first-round picks to get Keyshawn Johnson from the Jets.

The Bucs likely would settle for less, since the alternative will be to let Freeman walk away.

All those guys were big winners in college football. How did their NFL careers turn out?

Hell Landry Jones has more wins than any QB in this class throughout his college career. You think that makes him the best QB in this class?

Also, lets not forget that the wins argument started with ripping on Geno for the bowl game followed by mentioning Wilson wasn't in one ect. I don't want to put words in people's mouths, but I don't think anyone here really thinks the guy with the most wins is the better prospect.

To be fair. Tim Tebow has 1 more playoff win than the Chiefs in the last 19 years.

Alabama has one of the best offensive line's I've ever seen in college football.

Wilson has good accuracy. Despite losing his 3 best WR's to the NFL and coach to stupidity, he still kept his completion % above 60..with shit. His best WR was a dropfest too. Places the ball where only his receivers can catch it most of the time. Has shown ability to make any pass and has made some good passes off his back foot. Velocity is good on his passes.

Played well against top defenses which says a lot, especially this year.Did not play well againt top d's this year, consistently

Has a good release, but weird throwing motion, kind of like Phillip Rivers.

Biggest question is obviously mechanical, but a good teacher (didn't we just hire one of those?) will do wonders to help that part of his game.

Just from what I saw and I'm a Hogs fan.
