Baldwin appears to be #2 WR

Chiefs | Jonathan Baldwin seems to be top choice for No. 2 WR job
Thu, 16 May 2013 16:37:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin appears to be the favorite for the No. 2 wide receiver job at this point but has not emerged as the dominant offseason player like he was last offseason. WRs Donnie Avery, Dexter McCluster and Terrance Copper are also expected to be candidates for the job.

I really hope he breaks out this year. I know most have written him off but by God he has some talent and just maybe Reid will bring it out. Anyway Avery is already hurt.

I don't see Baldwin winning the #2 job, just as I can't imagine Jeff Allen keeps his spot. Nor can I imagine Nico Johnson not winning the starting job. I think they're keeping most of the Chiefs' original depth chart in there just for continuity early on.

He's going to look worse when the pads come back on.

Runs shitty routes and doesn't know how to break press. Which would be fine, except that he refuses to be coached.

He never improved at all during his time with decent coaching at Pittsburgh. He's been called out multiple times by teammates for loafing at practice, including Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones. He hasn't improved since he's been in Kansas City.

And add in that he had a reputation for being a diva, including publicly calling out his coach and his quarterback for his problems and asking the Quarterback to throw the ball to him so he can raise his draft stock.

But I'm sure there's a logical explanation for how a player with that kind of athleticism never improves since his sophomore year in college.

I hope you are right, but so far Baldwin is to me what McCluster is to Clay.

I really hope that I am wrong. Scheme and coaching can be everything.

Look at the coaching staff he has had. Look at the QBs he's had. He was never given a chance. I truly believe Reid and Co will have him ready to go. He's got this.

Agree totally. This year will be the tell all though. But I've seen many occassions where he was wide ****ing open but our shit for QB was looking for a place to go fetal. If he could turn out to be the 2nd coming of Bowe (and he has that potential) look out !

I think they gave him a chance, but Crennel's staff had the coaching and scheme ability of last night's dinner.
