To Blitz or not to Blitz

So, Peton Manning is obviously not Vick, he's much, much smarter. So, Do we blitz him like we did Vick or not? I say no because Peyton picks that up better than any QB in the league and will pick you apart with the hot read. Vick was too dumb to see that. But, I do think Gun will pick some good timing blitzes and if Peyton gets off the pass, he needs to get hammered. By the way, everyone going to the game, including me, get LOUD. I don't care if it didn't work last January, it sure as hell doesn't hurt and once you get Peyton's goofy ass picked off a couple times or put him in the grass, he starts blaming the receviers or the linemen. IT'S ON

I don't know about blowing into a FG, but there are probably more than a few girls out there who could suck a bowling ball through a straw that we could put in one endzone so Tynes can kick a 75 yarder...

Manning ain't no Vick...

Gunther has to do a better job of disguising the blitzes. We need to fake it more and bring the delayed blitz sometimes. And we need to bring it right up the middle. Last game, Robinson telegraphed the blitzes so much that they had no chance to get to Manning.

We cannot just line up everyone at the LOS and go after the pencil-neck. I know: I cannot believe I just said that, either.

I have to believe that Gun has gameplanned for Colts, and a key part will be disguising the blitzes.

I know the Colts will get their passing yards, but the corners have GOT to jam the Colt recievers to allow D-line penetration; they MUST get into Manning's face, disrupt his passing lanes, and force feed him Tuba's turf often.

...a spy on EJ won't hurt either.

Pressure from the front four will be key. I wouldn't blitz as much as usual, Manning destroys the blitz.

Better idea -- set up the massive cooling fans in the runway behind the goal post to create a jet stream effect to affect the ball flight, or on each snap have a massive strobe light blind Manning so he'll have trouble seeing his receivers......

We could always send Tonya Harding and her flunkies after Peyton to kneecap him with a lead pipe!

This guy lives off the Blitz. I think we should put in the blitz in very rare doses, keep the crowd level high and stack the line to look like our blitz packages every play of the first quarter. He'll get tired of play changes at the line for no reason and doubt his ability to read our D.

Then, in the mid and late games, if Gun wants to he can unleash his hounds. I however see no reason to ever actually blitz this guy provided we get even moderate pressure from out extra guys.

We need bigtime pressure from the front 4 this week. I'm not too confident in our ability to keep Harrison/Wayne/Stokley at bay, so it may become a necessity to blitz later in the game.

Then again, Jax beat them last week with Manning still throwing for about 300 yards, 3TD, 0 INT, and with Edge still putting up 87 yards.

the DL has to generate its own pressure...if they aren't pushing the line back and clogging lanes no amount of blitzing will save us

isn't that the same defensive line that most people were moaning about not so very long ago??

hicks is still starting, isn't he?

is it likely that hicks and co. can actually pressure manning consistently?

otoh, at least we should get some pressure up the middle with dalton...

but siavii is out...

I say we put a Saints helmet in whatever endzone the Dolts are going towards. That should keep anyone of the Manning's running the other direction.

And f it if they get a big play and score, that will just mean our O gets back out ther to control the clock and rests our D so they can keep blitzing.
