Chiefs RG Jon Asamoah, WR Jon Baldwin Ruled Out Sunday

Kansas City Chiefs RG Jon Asamoah has been ruled out Sunday for the game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This means that Russ Hochstein will start in his place at right guard. Hochstein was picked up earlier this season and hasn’t got much playing time.

The Chiefs also reported that Jon Baldwin would be out. This likely means that Steve Breaston will be active this week. I think Breaston could be good if he got some playing time and if Matt Cassel trusts him.

Jake O’Connell has also been ruled out, but I don’t think this is very significant because he doesn’t see much playing time as it is.
Do you think this will affect the Chiefs’ blocking this Sunday?

Baldwin hasn't even had an opportunity to show what he has. I am not sure how you can judge any receiver right now with Cassel launching his wobbles at his first read almost exclusively, if he actually gets a pass off before going fetal.

Baldwin has had plenty of opportunity. He struggles to get open because he is just not very quick, and you can see it when the ball is in his hands.

He has straight line speed (4.4, not even elite speed) and elite jumping ability. That's it.

Other receivers have had plenty of success with Cassel throwing. Bowe, Breaston, Chris Chambers for a few games in 2009, Wes Welker and Randy Moss in New England. Tony Moeaki was very good as a rookie.

Baldwin is a bust. He's Mike Williams II. A big guy with some speed who can't get open against NFL DBs. It says a lot about what the Chiefs think about his abilities that he hasn't received a single jump ball in the red zone this year.

He's just not very good. Scott Pioli has this bugaboo about drafting physical specimens. He falls in love with height/weight. That's why he picked Baldwin. That's why he picked Tyson Jackson. That's why he picked Dontari Poe.

Baldwin is not a bust yet. But next year, when he has about 15 catches after Week 8, he will be.

Baldwin is 111th in yards per pass route run.

That's a pretty bad stat when you have 193 pass snaps.

You think Randy Moss had success with Cassel in New England? Compare the numbers with Cassel and Brady. There was a lot of news about that at the time.

I explained earlier in the thread why Moeaki and the rest had success in 2010, #25. Besides, Cassel was just flat playing better than he has since.
Chambers, seriously?

Baldwin had a short season due to Thomas Jones, then no training camp due to the strike, now Paul Hacket 2.0 for and OC with the worst QB in the league.

You are a numbers guy, Baldwin has done a better job than Moeaki and Breaston in 2012 trying to catch the crap Cassel is subjecting them to.

Yes, Chambers. He had 600 yards receiving for this team in 2009 in only 9 games. That equates to a 1,000-yard season.

So far Baldwin is the least productive wide receiver the Chiefs have had during Cassel's time in KC. He makes McCluster, who ****ing sucks, look good.

What does that tell you?

Breaston, in 2011, looked fine. This season he has obviously been Pioli'd.

Baldwin has flashed something in only one game here. And he did it against a 4th string CB who happened to be starting that game.

He is an abysmal player and QB changes won't help him. He didn't do shit with Orton last year.

And despite the fact that he's playing a LOT more this season, his receiving yards per game has barely improved at all.

He sucks and he's not showing improvement.

This offense isn't utilizing Baldwin how they should be.

I agree that our QB is useless past 20 yards, but I honestly think Baldwin sucks at running intermediate routes.

He doesn't comprehend the nuances of playing WR in the NFL.

He's just a big guy who can run fast.

He came into the perfect situation. He had Haley as his HC....a guy who had been known to get the best out of his WRs. Thomas Jones ****ed him from the beginning.....and then Pioli took over ****ing him after he left.

The only time Baldwin was ever reported to look good was when Pioli failed to reach an agreement with Bowe. All of a sudden there were media reports of Baldwin hauling in every pass thrown his way and how Baldwin was in an excellent position to replace Bowe if need be.

Just imagine if Bowe would have sat out...........

And **** our media for doing Pioli's bidding.

Baldwin and Cassel contradict each other.

There is a reason why Cassel has gotten worse each year after getting his shot. Every swinging dick on an opposing defense knows Cassel CAN NOT beat you if pressured.

Instead of standing in there, taking the hit and hitting the single covered receiver, open receiver in the face of a blitz, he just goes fetal.

Cassel has his mind made up if a pass is called, he is staring down
Bowe or McCluster, end of story.

It is going to be hilarious watching this fan base's lack of patience it they ever do draft a QB.

Oh, and the pass that was called incomplete, that Baldwin got injurred on, was complete and a fumble.
