No wonder we can't develop a QB or an offense, with outdated thinking like this:

Grbac fumbled on a pass play in the first quarter, and the Chiefs took the running approach to an extreme the rest of the half. Grbac attempted only eight passes.

Cunningham later said the fumble made the Chiefs "pull in your horns a little bit."

This week, Cunningham said that approach was smart football.

"Any coach would do that, whether the quarterback is Peyton Manning or Elvis Grbac or John Elway," Cunningham said. "You have a tendency if there's a negative play that you settle down into the running game and start moving the chains a little bit."

Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher, speaking generically and not about Grbac, disagreed, saying it was self-defeating to put limits on the quarterback.

"All coaches are dealing with different personalities and different situations," Fisher said. "I'm certainly not going to take my quarterback out of the game because he threw an interception. Now, if he throws three balls right down the middle, then he's going to be standing next to me because that's something you don't do. But as far as protecting the quarterback (with play-calling), our quarterback is a key player in our offense. We hurt ourselves if we protect the quarterback."

And Raye says, "He's (Elvis) a shooter. That's what he does. You don't stop shooting because you're not hitting them. You don't stop throwing them because you're throwing interceptions. Warren Moon didn't throw for 60,000 yards without throwing some interceptions."

Yeah Martha...and he didn't throw for 60,000 yards without getting knocked around more than a few times.<P>

JRs playcalling does not bear witness, to his comments. If it does change today, we could be in for a long afternoon.

And secondly, with that kind of thinking. We don't run for much, should we stop that?
Where was this thinking last year when egg head was kicking the ball out of bounds. You kick it out of bounds do you stop kicking? MORON

I used to really like Gunther, but I'm starting to question his intelligence. Like the KCStar columnist said last week, trying to be a running team without a good RB is like trying to win the Indy 500 with a Yugo.

I really believe that EG is good enough that KC could do very well through the air. What ever happened to having the killer instinct? Instead of just trying to nurse a lead along by running, running, running, why not try to add to it by throwing?

I just about fell off the couch when the announcer said that so far in the game, KC had run 14 times and passed 3 times. Pathetic.
