Random ChiefsPlanet Stats

There are all sorts of stats about the forum buried in the Admin CP. I'd love to make those available to everyone, but I haven't really found an add-on that does it well. But, I'm a stats geek, so I might bump this thread from time to time with useless tidbits that I find interesting.

Man, Pioli and Co have really jump started this year in terms of post count! We're currently at about 75% more posts for the year than we were at this point last year. Here's a nifty graph for the math geeks out there.

So what happened in September-October of last year? Was it DC traffic? That slope was steeper than any other regular season on record.

If you look carefully, you can see the draft every year after 2002.

The slope during the season in 2002 was almost the same as the slope of the season in 2003. The big difference between 2002 and 2003 was that the slope during off season in 2003 was nearly equal to the slope during the season. 2003 was the first year that CP became a year around board in a big way.

If the slope that we saw last season holds, we've entered a new era of Chiefs planet.

My hypothesis is that it's a result of the new server. In past years, gamedays were somewhat limited by the server's capacity. Now that the cap has been lifted, so to speak, people can stick around here to talk about the games rather than splitting time with other boards and/or getting frustrated and walking away entirely.

I'm wondering that myself. I certainly think that this offseason's activities have sparked an interest level in discussing the team in that we've not seen before. It'll be interesting to see if that holds through the rest of the year. Could a one-million-post year be in our future?

We started having intermittent freezes around here a month or so ago. I hypothesized that one of its queries was the cause, so I disabled it. The freezes seem to have gone away, so I think that may have been it. I may still try out a new version of it at some point though.

That's kind of what I figured. I may try and mess with it at some point in the future. It's kinda fun when it works.

Looks like Dartgod closed it (he has mod powers in CasinoPlanet). It was probably mucking up the forum and got in the way once the season started.

Since it's the offseason, though, I'll open it back up - just for you. It'll probably get closed or moved again once the season comes back around.
