Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

Indeed.
That's amazing stuff. And I really like Geno. I genuinely do.
I'm just not ready to say he's a better prospect than RG3 was right now without the Senior Bowl or combine. So much can happen in that time frame.

RG3 had the best combine I've ever seen from a physical and mental standpoint, so forgive me for thinking that right now Geno isn't as good in those areas since he has no definitive proof with NFL GM's/HC's.

If WVU's defense gets one stop this year, Geno gets hyped for throwing 3 td's in the 4th quarter to beat a top 10 defense.

Well done sir, well done.
Since 2005, the quarterbacks that the Chiefs could have realistically drafted that I felt were worthy of spending a high round pick on are:

2005: Aaron Rogers
2011: Colin Kaepernick

And at this stage, I like Geno Smith better than either of them.

I don't like wasting picks on guys just to get a guy at the position. Mark Sanchez, Jimmy Clausen...those are wasting the pick.

Geno Smith is not a wasted pick and it's a perfect storm in terms of team needs, player availability, pick, etc.

Geno Smith is the guy. Period.

Apply for the GM position then, only way to make sure it happens.

Sure I was. I was on board with him after watching WVU play his sophomore year.

In fact, I posted somewhere that I was full on Geno right before the season began. Draft Planet I believe.

And I've already done it previously, but I'll throw out a name for future considerations:

Chuckie Keeton

Don't say I wasn't a bandwagon jumper on that guy either.

Look at Okung. His measurables and potential were damn near through the roof, and it's only now that he's finally playing up to that potential. (Playing very well right now in fact.)

If the Chiefs take Joeckel, that's a three/four year project IMO.

People talk about taking QB's from a "pro style set" but there's a reason that offensive linemen out of USC, Boston College and Wisconsin seem to have a much faster successful transition to the pros than other guys who are similarly talented.
Add to this that Joeckel doesn't have anywhere NEAR Okung's potential (at least IMHO).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I can remember Sacc's first mock for 2013 and the QB was either Barkley or Wilson until it was edited a couple weeks later.

McShay, while in the same mock says there's no #1 QB in this draft, already has Smith in his top 10 (going 8th IIRC). Virtually the same position he had RG3 at this time last year.

i wish people would watch the 4th quarter of WVU vs Oklahoma...that's the argument for Smith, that's his upside..that's why he is worth the 'risk' (oh noes!)

3 tds against the 8th ranked pass defense in the country....making jaw dropping throws...multiple HOLY SHIT throws (the single best pass in college all year, I'd bet, from his endzone - under pressure - into quadruple coverage for a 30 yard gain)...throws that take big brass balls to make

but his shitty defense gives up a td with 23 secs left and they lose 50-49 and the narrative is set...

and enter the crying true fans...
