A mock in the spirit of Direckshun
Assumptions:
1) KC resigns Albert to a long term deal. 2) KC trades Tamba Hali to the Saints for their first and third round picks. 3) KC gets a third round compensatory pick for Carr and pick 3.31 back from the 9ers as part of the Smith trade. 1.1 Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia I think we have beaten this horse. 1.15 Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU Long live the tradition of Chiefs drafting first round LSU defensive linemen. But seriously, this guy has elite upside. 3.1 Datone Jones, DE, UCLA Datone would make an interesting project as a one-gap defensive end in a 3-4 and appears to be able to put on the extra 15 or so pounds it would take to do so. 3.15 Jonathon Franklin, RB, UCLA I love this kids vision and acceleration. I think he will be a surprise. He also catches extremely well out of the backfield and would make an excellent mesh with the Andy Reid offense. 3.31 DJ Swearinger, SS, South Carolina I'm not sure why Swearinger seems to be flying under the radar, but if he is available here, we should pounce. He is quite well-rounded but will likely draw flags in the NFL. I can live with it, provided he sufficiently punishes receivers for trying to come across the middle. 3.COMP Nico Johnson, ILB, Alabama This isn't a sexy pick, but the guy is exactly the type of player we need at ILB. 4.2 Joe Kruger, DE, Utah This guy actually lived up to Sac's billing at the combine. An impressive combination of size and athleticism with excellent arm length. 5.1 Marcus Davis, WR, Virginia Tech This guy has all the tools and is surely worth taking a chance on in the later rounds. 6.2 Caleb Sturgis, K, Florida Succop is just so... average. Time for some fresh blood. 7.1 Rod Sweeting, CB, Georgia Tech Late round flyer on a guy who is likely to win coaches over with his interview. |

Love the mock. But a first and third for tamba? the general consensus seems to be that he's declining I think we would be lucky to get a second.
Ooh, and I'm down for sturgis, kick succop to the curb. |

Obviously, I would like to have addressed tight-end and corner in a more strong fashion, but it is clear that trading out of the second hurt us in this regard. Therefore, I suspect we will need to address some deficiencies in free agency.

Wow. If Hali is worth a 1 and a 3, maybe the Broncos should trade Dumervil for the majority of someone's draft, since Doom is younger, better, and cheaper than Hali.

He may have been a little more expensive than Hali last season, but a lot of that was that Hali had to pay back the salary for the time he missed due to his suspension. |
