Based on the Shaun Hill stats we can assume the 49ers would of won the SB for the 11 season if he had started instead of Smith.

Of course the interesting thing is that the "good" Alex Smith over the last two years averaged 22.4 PPG (taking out the half he played in St. Louis, in which he only produed 7 points, but we'll let that slide) when you take out defensive and special teams scores.

So the 49ers improved their offense only slightly the last two years...basically Alex was good for another FG a game...but their defense improved greatly...which is why they won.

Wrong. Everything improved. First, and the most important thing that improved, was field position. We also with having a top ranked defense, had a top ranked special teams and led the league in field goal position, which also while helping the defense, hurt the offense. THey had a shorter field to go.

Yes, the offense was the achilles heel to the 49ers, like the defense was to the packers, saints, and pats. All of the TALENT on the 49ers, is on the defensive side of the ball.

Try it this way.

Justin Smith, Top 3 De, NaVarro Bowman, Top 3 ilb, patrick willis, top inside backer, aldon smith, top 5 rusher, both safeties made the pro bowl.

the only thing that compares to that on the offense side is they had a top 10 tight end, a top 10 running back, and a top 5 oline. THe majority of the talent, is ON THE DEFENSE. Especially in 2011.......

Smith fan it will take exactly 1 month to see that Alex Cassel plays like his inbred cousin Matt, and then I must ask you will you still be posting here?

depends. Are we talking matt cassel of the last two years, or the matt cassel of 2010.

And in actuality, no it doesnt. I have been an alex smith fan since he was a junior at Utah, i was a fan of his through all the shit years, and i was there for his slightly above mediocre years. So, yeah ill be here either way.

The ball control led to the defense going from 16th in the league in 2010 to being second. Yes, we kicked a crap ton of field goals. Far too many, but still. who cares if you only score 22 a game, when the league average is about that, when your defense gives up only 15?

Over under for 24.5 points per game from the chiefs this season in games alex smith starts?

It doesn't matter, because the Matt Cassel of 2010 couldn't beat good teams. He played AFC South and NFC West scrubs. When he played legit teams his rating crumbled and his record was shit.

A conservative qb does nothing for you in this age. Smith without an extremely stacked team around him will not be able to contend.

You just said the defense was loaded with talent.

Now you're crediting "Alex Smith's ball-control offense", which had a third-down conversion percentage in the bottom 20 percent of the NFL, for it's improvement?

wait buddy. You worded it quite well to support your argument BUT if you actually count the players, you named six defensive players and SEVEN offensive players.
