Revisit past: Trade Tony G for a 3rd?

Who here can admit they were stupid to want to trade Tony G for a 3rd round pick a couple months ago?

Idiotic ideas like this and trading Jared Allen got the Chiefs what they deserve, a dogshit football team.

That is all.

...Well lets see the team is probably going to be 2-14, getting anything for a 30+ year old TE who has a giant contract in that situation is probably a good idea.

Yep,imagine if Huard was starting AND not throwing to TG.

I'm glad we kept him...but,a 3rd would have helped the team down the line.

I didn't, and wouldn't have traded him for what would nearly be a 4th rounder. Any QB coming in is going to need a goto guy if you want him to succeed quickly. Peyton brothers both did, and Ryan in Atlanta has a guy going to the probowl as well. Without Gonzo we wouldn't see the current offense putting up points like they have and wouldn't even have a question of weather Thigpen would be our QB next year. Why we desperately need to replace him, I don't think that late 3rd pick was going to be they guy to replace him.

I was in for Trading TonyG for a 1st camp..

I love the guy as member of the Chiefs, but I don't see our team winning a championship while he is here.. So build for the future.. Hopefully the upcoming draft nets us a lot better pick for him, and he gets to go to a team that has a shot at the championship..

right....IMO our record would look like the Lions without Tony G.

Lets just trade any good player on our team and go even lower under the cap then rename our team the Paris Quiefs.

I was fine with trading him mostly because he deserves a better team.

what about D-Bowe?

Talented guy?

Plays hard?

How does he not deserve a better team?

He's a ****ing second year guy. He'll be in his prime by the time this team is competitive again.

And Waters hasn't been a cornerstone of this team for a decade the way Tony has.

TG is a special case. I'm glad to have him, but if he wants out, I say he deserves out.

TG WANTED out.
He wanted that trade.

Carl actually made a wise move by keeping him.If we had been offered a second...both sides would have been happy.

Although a bit bittersweet if it had happened.

no crap Tony wanted out, you think anybody wants to be here? Does this mean we cut our whole ****ing team? Only here for a job & to get paid. we are the 2nd worst team in the nfl, only thing keeping us from being the worst is the only team to go 0-16 in nfl history (Lions). Trading Tony makes as much sense as Trading D-Bowe.

Oui its SportsRacer's proud Paris Quiefs.

Let's let Tony do whatever the **** HE want's to do. There are some Chiefs fans who don't deserve HIM, that's for DAMN sure.

That's Tony's call to make; he's more than earned it.

That position is bullshit; let's build him a better team here at home so he can go out in style.

He deserves a 'Super Glue' endorsement; maybe they'll devise a special formula for him that will allow him to magically use his hands to catch the ball, instead of using his chest as a racquet-ball wall, yes?

Not today; he's veteran leadership on a line that desperately needs it. And he's a good spokesman for the team.

Three wasted seasons with Herm; a travesty.

Tony is going to be invaluable to any young QB we bring in.
He's worth more to us, and the development of our QB than anyone could ever give us for him.

As for what Mecca said. He has to realize that a TE who snatches 90 balls a year at 12 per falls more in line with the value of a #1 WR, than a run of the mill TE.
