I don't know what the Dems will do, if they vote no, it will be plastered all over them come re election time.

However, I'm not sure I want to see the cuts made permanent just yet. We need to actually see if these cuts do in fact pay for themselves first. Well, actually like the guy said, the government needs to cut spending to make them work, but we all know that's not gonna happen

I don't want to see this cut running up the debt. Just my $.02, I know most will disagree.

We are 20 trillion in debt

People are complaining about collecting the front rent and be lucky to get the back rent. Meaning it doesn't matter what we do until we STOP SPENDING over what we take in plus pay down the debt. That means zero deficit spending and collecting to pay down the debt.

If we have sustained growth at 2.3% or higher, these cuts are revenue neutral. We are getting closer to a year with 3% for the first time in a over a decade. The Dems used the tax cuts not being permanent as a rallying cry, it would be fun to see them try to vote no.

Of course they'll vote against it, and when they do, they'll point to the corporate tax breaks, repeal of inheritance tax, and the 11 million people that are going to lose their health insurance as their reasons why. It was much less popular among the public than it was on Capitol Hill, so they'll have audience, too.

Yes, you were the one that originally pointed that out to me. And FWIW, I was originally against this tax plan, right now I'm setting on the fence. You might be the guy that actually changes someone's mind in the D.C. forum. That like NEVER happens!! If I come full circle on this, you should get a trophy or something

But yea, if this comes to a vote, any D congressman from a moderate area is almost gonna be forced to vote yea. Dems on the coasts will likely be safe, nothing is sending those D's packing, but a lot of the others are gonna feel the pressure I think. Time will tell I guess?

If they just would've been able to be okay with them not being permanent. Everyone could've had their taxes lowered for several years. And they wouldn't have had to make any adjustments that would have cost people anything. Well maybe those that live in blue regions, but they can move

reconciliation was the reason, otherwise they would have...they will need 60 votes for this to pass in the Senate

Wow, we actually agree there. I hate bipartisan BS. If the nation puts 1 party in control of all 3 houses of government, that tells me at that particular point in time, they like one sides policies more than the other. Or even 2 of the 3 if it is soundly in 1 direction.

And yea, that approach can bite someone in the butt from time to time. But when checks and balances swings radically one way or the other, the states are saying something, and the politicians should listen IMO.

Its 11 million people potentially if they choose to not buy insurance.

Only if the Dems filibuster I think. If the Dems just vote no but do not try to filibuster, it can pass on a party line vote.

When the Dems filibuster, it is going to look very, very bad for them. Especially if the bill is trying to be passed in Feb or March when the new withholding tables are being put in place...people will be seeing more money in their paycheck, and it can be painted that the Dems wanna take that away.
