And 50% is an absolutely OUTSTANDING percentage.
Which is what I have claimed all along. It's outstanding. Nobody is arguing otherwise. Some clown said that EVERYBODY knew the outcome of Jordan's shots, which is insanely stupid.

Everyone did. Everyone. I'll research these misses when I'm not on my phone.

I would guess that list is pretty close to accurate. He definitely missed at the end of game 4 of the ECF. That was the Reggie Miller shot game. Pretty sure the game 1 of the 91 Finals is right too.

Still an outstanding percentage. Larry Bird, Reggie... all the clutch guys missed game winners.

You're taking his comment way too literally. Jordan was the best playoff 4th quarter killer, and probably always will be. And it's really not even close.

I don't disagree. However, equating what is essentially a coin-flip with certainty is beyond ridiculous. Mathematics really isn't that difficult.

It was ALWAYS a certainty with MJ. When it truly mattered.

Just to weigh in with my meaningless opinion.

If I was down 1 point, with ten seconds to go, these are the players, in order, I want to have the ball in their hand.

1a. Michael Jordan
1b. Larry Bird
3. Jerry West
4. Reggie Miller
5. John Havlicek
6. Kobe Bryant
7. Magic Johnson
8. Hakeem Olajuwan
9. Isaiah Thomas
10. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

I'd probably put LeBron James and Tim Duncan at 11 and 12.

From Saturday's WSJ:

Quote:
LeBron vs. Kobe, Jordan

LeBron James, after winning his second straight NBA title Thursday said, "I want to be, if not the greatest, one of the greatest to ever play this game." At age 28, he's well on his way.

James's numbers compare favorably to two other greats of the past 30 years, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, who had put up similar playoff numbers by their age-28 season. Jordan, probably the best player of all time, has the overall statistical edge, though James has been the better rebounder and has played 46 more playoff games. James, however, leads in nearly every category over Bryant, who didn't even start his first 20 postseason games.

There is even room for improvement. James and the Heat went 11 games this postseason in between pairs of consecutive victories before ending the slump with wins in Games 6 and 7 in the finals. Jordan's six title-winning teams never had lapses of more than six games without winning streaks, and Bryant's five championship Lakers teams never went more than four games between two-game winning streaks.

Also, the Heat were outscored by San Antonio by five points in the finals series. It's the third time in four finals series James has played that his team has been outscored, and his overall record in finals games is now just 10-12. Jordan went 24-11 in finals games and the Bulls were never outscored in a championship series. Bryant is 23-15 and his Lakers have outscored East opponents by about a point a game in finals.

On the basis of individual stats, James is comfortably in Jordan's and Bryant's company as playoff performers. Now he needs just a few dominant title runs to match their résumés past age 28.

—Carl Bialik

A version of this article appeared June 22, 2013, on page A12 in the U.S. edition of The Wall Street Journal, with the headline: LeBron vs. Kobe, Jordan.

If the ball is close to the bucket, I want it in Shaq's hands. He can run over anyone guarding him to stuff it home and the refs aren't calling a foul that late in the game.

Shit...I'd put Robert Horry before Duncan and James. Not saying that James and Duncan aren't exceptional talents, but we're talking the best of the best.

MJ?

When MJ had the ball in the 90s and an important game was on the line (IE playoffs) and he had the ball...EVERYONE knew the outcome. He knew he was going to make it, his teammates knew he was going to make it, his opponents knew he was going to make it, and the fans (home and away) knew he was going to make it.

I doubt we'll ever see something like that again.
This is it right here. Maybe James gets that good, maybe is that good, but this is the truth regarding Michael Jordan. You knew he was going to win that shit unless it was Detroit (for a time). And the year after the last time Detroit beat the Chicago Bulls...even Joe Dumars knew it.
