Elder Scrolls V

So the guys at Bethesda let it slip a few months ago that Elder Scrolls V was in the works for 2010, and a friend said he read a possible release in 2009... I'm looking for the article, but I'm friggin' STOKED about a new Elder Scrolls game coming out in the next 12-18 months!!!

I think they can learn a lot with the successes and failures of their previous landmark releases like Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 and make ESV an absolute KICK ASS game!

I just finished the main story and all of the factions except getting the thieves guild to it's former glory. I still have 10 achievements left though...

Sucks that they're holding off on the PC version. A month from now I'll be playing Diablo III.

I'll probably wait for the GOTY edition. Should have a computer to handle it by then.

Smart move. Playing this game on an older/crappy computer SUCKS. I'd sometimes have 10 or 15 crashes a day, now, almost none.

If I were going to only play one, do you recommend Skyrim or Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning? I haven't played an RPG since Neverwinter Nights 1.

If you have a good computer, Skyrim.

If not, Kingdoms of Amular.

But they're both great games. I'd rate Skyim at 9.5, Kingdoms at an 8.

depends on why you haven't play a RPG in awhile

imo ...

Amular is more RPG and action fighting game
Skyrim is a RPG and strategy fighting game

both have exploring and constructing aspects ... both are big,big games.

amalur has more of a anime look to the characters and monsters
skyrim is more realistic

skyrim has a tradition fighting scheme
amalur is a bit like torchlight and has some new aspects

I don't know why I haven't played one in a while, really. Part of it is because I had a Macbook (I now have a PC that can handle either of these games), part of it is because I spent most of my free computer time on ChiefsPlanet or playing Starcraft with friends, and part of it is I didn't want to spend the money.

Which one did you enjoy more?

edge to skyrim but both are enjoyable

skyrim definitely has more of a 'grind' aspect ... you have to work for it.

Skyrim is also harder, you can die frequently if you get reckless.

skyrim has more NPC interaction stuff

Amalur is a adventure fighting game ... almost hack and slash. For me the NPC interaction was pretty irrelevant.

Amalur is still unique and very fun though

Pretty good analysis. If you're serious about Skyrim, it's challenging. You have to put a lot of thought into the skills you develop and how they interact with each other. The leveling system is fairly annoying, especially at higher levels. You don't advance based on experience points - you advance based on using skills. If you favor one specific type of character, eventually it takes a really long time to level up in skills related to character (for instance, stealth and archery for a rogue), and eventually if you want to keep leveling at all you'll have to completely change your style of play. The good thing about it is that it forces you to diversify your character and you have no choice but to learn other aspects of the game. The bad thing is, I'd rather play the way the way I want to and advance on points alone.

That's really my only serious complaint about the game itself.
