Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

Oh well. Hopefully they get frustrated, or think it sucks and trade in their game.

not me, I was at least trying to defend or cap the flags. But then I just went to TDM and I don't think I've gone negative yet. In COD I'll go -10 every. single. game. because of the handicap and all of the other BS going on. I like this game, it's more gun v gun.

Heh...played with my 13 yr old nephew last night as well. It did not go well. He had no clue what he was doing and didn't listen to me...wanted to run around with a sniper rifle because they are cool....never mind that he got 3 kills in about 2 hours and died constantly. I think he disarmed one MCOM...not sure how long he will last, he kept saying this is pretty boring for me. Just drug me down really, couldn't really tell him that though.

yeah, there are definitlely some new people that understand what's going on. I suspect quite a few switched from COD etc as they too were tired of the 'killstreak' bs and mindless running around etc.

In fact, I had a match last night where probably 75% of my team was ranked really really low, but we kicked butt.

I imagine a lot of the people who switched over were also victimized by the lag compensation or whatever is causing it. So after playing for over a month with non stop lag and always being at a disadvantage, well we're better because of that. I guess MW3 is a good tool for competitive gamers, playing with a handicap makes people better and then switch to a different FPS and BAM, time to dominate!

and this is the first time I've ever played a BF game and my K/D is already much higher than it ever has been in the past 2 COD's. I hate hardcore in COD because it's impossible to even compete when you are full second behind in that, but I'm loving the hardcore in BF.

I didn't understand why it needed to download anything for the actual install. Then it turned right around and needed a patch update after install. The patch I can see but why the hell would you need to download files for install when you own the ****ing disk.

I'm really hating the mall level of the campaign where you have to plant claymore mines and fight them off like it is horde. Doesn't matter what I try I can't get through it.

Are you going prone? Find a nook and go prone in it. Make sure you find a weapon with an IVR scope (thermal). Finally, if you can't deal, drop the difficulty level down.

I'll try that next time. Never really considered just hiding in a corner. My problem is that I'm not very fast with the rifle and thermal shot on this level. By the time I get zeroed in on the enemy, they ****ing move on me.

I just went 27-9 on Grand Bazaar. Before you insinuate anything, I won't, don't, and never will camp. Every kill I had the person could have killed me if they were fast enough. I kept my team in the game and I'm proud since I've never done something like that. 39% accuracy too. Heh.

We need to play sometime. Most of the time I'm in the top 3 of my team - I hate playing solo though, being good without teamwork means nothing in this game.

ya, that's why I've been sticking to TDM. I was getting worked a little tonight, but I'm digging this game, the stuff that's killing me are legit kills and I'm still a noob.
