I don't remember any vial. I thought it was just smashed down in there. I remember Walt saying, "Whatever you do, don't smoke it."

No. He removed the tobacco and put a little glass tube of ricin in the cigarette.

Yeah, Tyrus is my dark-horse candidate.

In any case, I still think the timing is an issue. If it was the ricin, according to what's been set up previously in the show it seems like the kid would have to have been poisoned before everything went down in the desert in order to present symptoms when he did.

If the question is "Walt or Gus" as that author postulates, than it would obviously be Walt, out of those two options. Gus appeared to me to be completely unaware.

I just don't think I'll like it very much if it turns out to be Walt, because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for the reasons that I (and several comments on that page) point out.

My hope is either that it's simply an accident causing everything to unravel, or a blind-side of some kind.

In any case, it's certainly going to be interesting seeing what they come up with. Will the show start with from Walt's perspective, as he carries out his stealth-ninja poison master plan, or from the perspective of Brock as he finds the ricin, or (my personal favorite) the perspective of the cigarette.

I concur. The more I think about it, the more Gus seems the least plausible. We all hope that Walt hasn't sunk that low, but know it isn't beyond him. The mystery, for me, remains the missing ricin-cig. Walt has the cunning to devise the plan, but he has always been clumsy at implementation. Ty has motive, but hasn't ever demonstrated cleverness. Mike could do it, but he is laid up in Mexico, plus wouldn't do it w/o Gus.

I'm voting for the mysterious 'other' route.

It seems like Breaking Bad is going to come to a more final conclusion that The Sopranos or The Wire. Not that the Wire ended poorly, just that I thought some of the characters still had stories to tell.

Why should we feel bad that Walt has crossed over into a "bad guy"? I find it fascinating.

As do I. It's not often that the protagonist of a show turns into a pathetic megalomaniac. He's been slowly changing as a character over the last four seasons and it hasn't been for the better.

That's why Cranston should continue winning awards for this character...he's not just playing the same guy every season like Michael C. Hall or Hugh Laurie do (Dexter and House are good characters, but they haven't changed at all in 6+ seasons). Cranston's had to alter his acting with every season and even every episode.

Walt's supposed to be a bad guy. That's part of the appeal of the show. They're all bad guys.
