I am thinking of buying Pfizer stock. Consistent dividend yield that's currently at 3.72%.

In addition to sharing a percentage of its profits with shareholders, Pfizer actively buys its own common stock and has been for a while. This really isn't anything new. Pfizer has returned nearly $78 billion to its shareholders since the beginning of 2011. It's a well run company. Nothing it's currently doing has much to do with Tax Reform.

Not a bad stock at all. They are working hard to sell off the consumer products division, they sold the Animal Products group already, and are streamlining to be a takeover/merger target. If they accomplish that, someone like Lilly, who will spin off a very strong Global Animal Products and Companion Animal business and has a pile of cash. They have suffered a lot of patent expirations and R and D has not been very productive. Take a look at LLY as well.

It's certainly a good thing to have in the portfolio.
