Why the Chiefs need Cowher...

No Super Bowl winning coach has ever won the Super Bowl again with a different team. We know this.

We also know the NFL is fixed.

There wouldn't be a bigger story line in the NFL next year than if the Chiefs, who haven't drafted a QB since Todd Blackledge, were to win the Super Bowl, making Cowher, who has been in the broadcast booth, the first coach to win it all with 2 different teams.

Make it happen, Roger!

Pass.
I don't have that kind of patience anymore given how the NFL is these days.
there's no way a coach should get that long to try to win a championship.
Until a QB was forced upon him...

No thanks to deformed face.

I'd rather go the route of Chip Kelley and try and establish something new and innovative, but I wouldn't be pissed off if the Chiefs brought in the Chin at either GM or HC.
As long as the Chin has learned his lesson that QB's win in the NFL, not defense.

Sometimes thats not a bad thing.

You'd be surprised how much guys learn from being away from the game for a while.

Dick Vermeil is a great example.

I don't want a guy who's already got a legacy. I want a guy who's hungry to build one. I don't want a guy who's been sitting in a studio for 6 years, looking to regain lost glory, I want a guy who'll be sitting in a studio in 16 years, right after he's won his 3rd superbowl here.

I like Jay Gruden or Chip Kelly. I'd rather not have Cowher. If we must go retread, I'd rather it was Jon Gruden, as he was in and out rather quickly after building basically two super bowl teams.

But I'd really prefer some new blood, and Jay Gruden or Chip Kelly.

At least with legacy comes experience and knowledge on how to build and field a winner. Thats could serve well under an ownership thats clueless and
lacks experience/knowledge.

I think its important to look at the Chiefs current situation because that should dictate a lot in terms of what direction they should go. Should they go with experience/knowledge/previous winner or go with inexperience/youth/lack of knowledge, no track record, etc.

It's not always about what we want, its about what makes the most sense. Or what they(Hunt family) believe is right.

I've used this quote a lot lately:

Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Vemeil, Herm, Romeo. We've done the retreads. Over and over. And over. And over. It hasn't worked. It won't work.

We tried once with Todd Haley. Exactly the right idea. Wrong guy. But that's what we need to try, to find a young coach that can have a long tenure. The experience comes with the coordinators. That's where you hire your retreads.

We're trying to emulate Pittsburgh, and I think it's the right approach, but we need to find the 1992 version of Bill Cowher, not the 2013 one.
