Granted, I still think this experiment will fail miserably for a handful of reasons I've already mentioned. But that isn't necessarily because Weis's somewhat prickly personality makes him doomed to failure.

Not at all. I know what it's like to cheer for a team who's coach acts like a dick.

Berglund always sounded completely mad dickish. If Kansas wants to piss off Blue Springs HS kids that is fine.

Berglund found out he had been kicked off the team when he started getting texts from friends who read it in Twitter. The kid's very good on the radio. Sounds like a smart kid, but his history suggests he's a punk.

I have to believe there is some reason behind it though. There doesn't appear to be any reason for KU to be a dick about it just to be a dick about it. They've granted release for other players - but this guys doesn't get it? There has to be more to it.

And honestly, the hearing for his release isn't until 1/27. I bet KU releases him at that point.

So, why go from asking to talk with other coaches (not requesting release) to getting a lawyer and going public with it when the hearing isn't for another week?

Brock actually came across as a very mature and intelligent kid. He didn't say anything critical about anyone or anything. He was very up front about his role in the situation and just wants his release to play somewhere else.

He did another interview. Petro aired some of it this morning. He was talking about his lawyers.

In these kind of situations the people who are doing all the interviews and "coming across" as nice people are usually the ones at fault.

That's just how it works.

The DUI Pinkel got is huge, you're kidding yourself.

He refrenced a letter stating that his request for release was denied. This letter also talked about how to appeal. If he made that up, he's pretty smart.

I'm sure there are reasons for not letting him go, but I don't think they matter. This is a major university and some extremely powerful, extremely wealthy people keeping a kid from playing football. They should wash their hands of this thing before it turns into a bigger PR nightmare than it already is. (Being a Mizzou fan, I'm happy to watch it play out, but I have an agenda that doesn't favor KU.)

PR nightmare?

The football team isn't thinking about this at all. The hearing is scheduled. It's not a big deal. The only people making an issue of it are mu fans at this point.

Well, when you look at the recruiting class for MU compared to the rest of the SEC I'd say it's had a big impact.

And all the decommits.

But guess we'll just have to see.
