If the Titans abandon Locker
http://nfl.si.com/2013/12/08/tenness...chris-johnson/
Would you, as the arm-chair GM, bring him in and give him a chance? I have to say, I am normally against picking through other teams garbage, but I think Locker can be salvaged and would even be a good fit for Andy Reid. Now, I haven't like, broken down his film from this year, but he seemed to play pretty well this year. Thoughts? assume this does not preclude the Chiefs from investing in a QB in the draft, as well. |

So you are suggesting we bring in another retread at QB?

I find locker to be a moneyball type pickup as opposed to a retread. He's a guy who has had success but maybe undervalued because of injury concerns. Normally I am opposed to retreads, as any regular can attest. I dont think locker has shown that he is a franchise qb, which is why the titans won't exercise the 15mm option. But I think it is far to early to write him off given that he has had success and can be had for probably essentially what chase daniel got this year.

He's better than Chase Daniel.
Chase Daniel makes too much god damn money for being a backup.

I know Locker better than most. I DID think he had the ability to be a championship level QB. Problem now is the same as it ever was. He can't stay on the field. This isn't something new. It has plagued him since he was in college as well. He is fragile. And when you're fragile you are a liability. I wouldn't sign him for a nickel for that reason alone. Not unless you had the best backup QB in the league that you knew could step in on a moment's notice and lead you for multiple games and a playoff run. He just can't stay on the field...

God damn right I would.
If he could stay healthy he'd be a better starting option than Smith. But, you probably believe Smith is some amazing starting QB and that only a handful of QBs are better. Locker has a better arm, he's a better runner, and you don't have to change his throwing motion. The only problem with him is that he has Croylitis. Last edited by jd1020; 12-25-2013 at 04:26 PM.. |

Even if he stays healthy I do not think he is a top tier type QB, when he is healthy is is more of a game manager + then a game winner. That is a lot of the problem though he has never been healthy long enough to make a complete judgement. Hell if he is brought in as a backup you will need a good 3rd stringer behind him.
