You're right ...it shouldn't matter, but it does - which is why I care enough to not like this decision. I mean Self's not going to have a problem recruiting either way...or shouldn't, but having Nike as your brand would help, and def wouldn't hurt being that basketball has been directly correlated to basketball since the days of MJ.

I think its overblown. We could be one of many schools with Nike, but with Adidas, we're their basketball flagship school. They fully fund all of our teams, both men and women, with their uniforms and gear.

Nike may be top dog in the basketball world, but with UNC, Duke and UK already there, we don't get nearly the deal or notoriety within the organization.

Zenger said at a luncheon I was at that Adidas treats KU basketball like royalty and any extra amount we'd get elsewhere would be minimal at best, without destroying a good relationship. Said it's not worth it to KU. That was about a year ago so this doesn't surprsie me.

Well I'd imagine that Adidas pays out the ass to KU.

I get why it's this way, I just wish it was w/ Nike instead.

Love any adidas running shoe over Nike though.

Shifts happen. Both schools in the NC game were Adidas. The "Rise to the Occasion" shirts sold millions.

For some reason, I'm about as cautious as I've been in quite some time. I feel a lot like I did in 2000 and 2006 when we brought in unreal classes but had little up top as upperclassmen. Both times we really struggled. People laugh at guys like Kevin Young and Brady Morningstar but those guys matter and they help you win at this level.


Hopefully Wiggins cancels out a lot of historical truths about young players, as Kentucky did a couple years ago (but which proved the truth last year)
